Episode 10 of Ascendance of a Bookworm showed that, in the midst of Buchenwald and the High Bishop’s attempts to force Myne into a pact, Ferdinand, who arrives already in the Cathedral, steps in to help her. He doesn’t waste any time restraining them.

However, Count Buchenwald’s natural strength makes him resilient, and he says that he will not succumb to defeat easily. Ferdinand begins to fight Buchenwald while Myne shields his family from him. However, Sylvester, along with Karstedt, arrives and asks him to halt.

As everyone bows in front of Sylvester, including Myne’s family, she is confused. Her father reveals the shocking truth to her: Sylvester is, in fact, the current ruler of Ehrenfest.

As soon as he grants the people permission to speak, Count Buchenwald asks that Myne be punished for using magic on a noble, even though she is a commoner. Sylvester claims, however, that she is now his adopted daughter, and she is not just another commoner that needs punishment anymore.

As soon as Sylvester realizes what Buchenwald, the High Bishop, and their companions have done, he decides to have them executed. Afterward, he tells Myne that she must call her family so that everyone can be informed of all the adoption conditions.

His parents, who naturally do not want her adopted, have an emotional meeting with the protagonist.

Myne, however, has had enough of putting her loved ones’ lives in danger and decided it would be better for her and them if she started living with a noble as his daughter.

A child with the devouring can benefit from adoption in a number of ways, which is why Ferdinand has been proposing Myne’s adoption long before she accepted it, even though she was reluctant.

 Urano Mototsu, a bibliophile and soon-to-be librarian, dies in an unfortunate accident. With her dying breath, she wishes to read books in her next life. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne, the daughter of a poor soldier.

Her love for books follows her in this new life as well. However, Myne is reborn in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. She decides to use her memories from her previous life to create and print books to read again.
