New ‘Army of the Dead’ Trailer Reveals Zack Snyder’s Smart and Fast Zombies

A new Army of the Dead trailer gives a glimpse at the evolved zombies in Zack Snyder’s upcoming movie, including an undead tiger.

Snyder’s first post-DCEU project after the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in March is already appearing like a significant departure from the tone of the superhero franchise. 

The first trailer provides a glimpse into the neon-infused world of post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. The ragtag band of mercenaries and thieves come together to find $200 million hidden under the Strip.

The trailer shows Hunter Bly (Hiroyuki Sanada) recruiting Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) for a dangerous mission in the Nevada desert. Soon enough, the gang comes together and gets ready to enter what looks like a cordoned-off Las Vegas to retrieve the prize locked up beneath the Strip.

However, things don’t go as per plan and, in a surprise twist, it’s disclosed that the zombies thriving inside Vegas are highly intelligent and organized, making it all the more challenging for the group to get out of Vegas alive.

Snyder has already made his mark on the zombie genre with his directorial debut, a remake of Dawn of the Dead, in which he successfully gave new life to the 1978 George A Romero film. Now, his return to the zombie genre has been highly awaited by fans all over. 

Army of the Dead will act as a spiritual successor to Dawn of the Dead, rather than a direct sequel.

Fans can rest easy, as Army of the Dead is also getting a prequel film, titled Army of Thieves, even if many of the characters die. Netflix, too, seems quite confident in Snyder’s vision of Army of the Dead.

Since the director is officially done with the DCEU, he has had his pick of the lot, and Army of the Dead appears like a great place for the divisive director to start.
