The conclusion of Wano Arc saw the Downfall of not one but two Yonkos. A year back, if somebody told us that these extremely powerful figures would be taken down, it would probably seem like a joke.
But the Onigashima alliance involved powerful pirates which made this a reality. Towards the end of the fights, we saw that Kaido and Big Mom landed in a pool of Magma under Wano.
However, the fate of these emperors has not yet been confirmed. We do not know if this was enough to take down the great emperors of the sea.
Let’s try and put together the puzzle pieces to understand the fate of Big Mom and Kaido.
Kaido and Big Mom were last seen in a pool of Magma. The entire world seems to believe that they are dead. However, Oda is not known for killing off characters and hence there is a high possibility that these Yonkos are alive, but weakened.
The Fate of Big Mom and Kaido
Trafalgar D Law and Eustass Kid took down Big Mom while Luffy sent Kaido underground. Both these Yonkos are known to be extremely resilient and wouldn’t die such an easy death.
Oda is not known to kill off his characters. The only major characters he killed were Ace and Whitebeard in what was the most epic sequence in One Piece.
Even while killing Cobra off, he built a huge suspense for almost 100 chapters before revealing the truth. This being said the magma wouldn’t be enough to kill Big Mom and Kaido.
Kaido has been known to attempt suicide multiple times without any success. This kind of resilient person cannot be killed by Magma. Sure, they might have suffered severe injuries but they might still be alive.
Also, these Yonkos may end up playing a huge part in the finale. For now, we can assume that these two are alive.
Pudding Reveals that Big Mom is Dead
Chapter 1064 shows Pudding being held captive in Blackbeard’s ship. She shouts at Teach’s subordinates saying if her mother was alive she wouldn’t let such a thing happen.
Can we assume that this information is true and it is now official that Big Mom is dead? Honestly, it would make sense considering that the Charlotte family would have Big Mom’s Vivre card.
If she would have been dead, they would have known. But somehow, it doesn’t sit right. It feels like yet another layup by Oda sensei. We can only wait and watch until things unfold.
