The official trailer for Apple TV+’s upcoming dramedy series Physical has been released. Following the teaser from last month, the show stars Rose Byrne in the leading role. Physical was created by Annie Weismann and will be released on June 18.
Now with less than a month to go until its debut, Apple TV+ began the show’s promotions by dropping the first trailer. Set against the backdrop of synth sounds, the clip takes viewers back to the 80s.
Based in San Diego, Sheila lives a monotonous life while struggling to carve out some time for herself. Her husband Danny (Rory Scovel) provides little help in understanding her stress, and amidst her efforts at committing to healthy eating and taking care of her daughter, it looks like she is right at the edge.
However, right before having a total breakdown, she discovers salvation in a most unlikely place: an aerobics class. Check out the trailer here:
The show will run for ten episodes, each with a half an hour runtime. Apple TV+ continues to stand by its quality over quantity policy, and Physical is about to join the ranks of its albeit limited but fantastic content line.
Craig Gillespie, who directed Margot Robbie starring hit I, Tonya, and Disney’s latest release Cruella, is credited with directing the episodes alongside co-directors Liza Johnson and Stephanie Laing. The show is reminiscent of Netflix’s GLOW both in looks and feels as it merges comedy with drama.
Although in present-day aerobics is not as popular as before, the human challenge of finding oneself via the medium of physical exercise is still relatable. Thus, the show will aim to gain the attention of people struggling with body image issues or mental disorders, especially those of overworked mothers.
But, expect it to do so along with Byrne’s sassy comedy routine, which is bound to provide laughs while running on your treadmill.
