Summary:
- Apex Legends announces a cross-over with upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth that brings quite a few skins.
- The Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth skins will arrive at Apex Legends on January 9th, 2024.
- There are three skins confirmed in the announcement video: Aerith, Cloud Strife, and Vincent Valentine.
The Game Awards 2023 had it all – new reveals for upcoming titles, Matthew McConaughey touting for Exodus, a DLC for God Of War Ragnarok, and an identification with the same energy as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Apex Legends announced a surprise crossover with Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth at the Game Awards 2023. The collaboration comes to life on January 9th, 2024, and will feature three purely cosmetic inclusions from FF: 7 Rebirth, namely the Cloud Strife skin, Aerith Skin, and Vincent Valentine Skin.
Based on the shared announcement video, three Apex Legends Champions will get three special skins. Specifically, Crypto will get a skin based on Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.
Horizon will get Aerith skin, and Wraith will bring an iconic Vincent Valentine skin. The announcement had a cinematic that included several other characters from Apex Legends.
Horizon and Wraith are shown to inspect the Cloud’s Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. The Sword, in the cinematic, was stuck on the ground.
Crypto managed to pull the weapon out with a swift transition to an in-game clip of Crypto swinging it around in all its glory in Apex Legends. With little detail about the event, the in-game footage suggests that the weapon will be usable in some fashion.
Fans of both franchises are pretty excited about this cosmetic inclusion. However, how one can acquire these Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth skins in Apex Legends remains unknown.
With no clear directions, it could be either in the form of prize trackers for themed items or from the in-game store at the expense of Apex coins. Until further detail is revealed, players can enjoy Season 19 of Apex Legends and wait for New Year, when more information can be expected.
About Apex Legends
Apex Legends is a free-to-play FPS battle-royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Upto 20 three-person squads or 30 two-person duos land on an island, scavenge for weapons and supplies and attempt to kill the other players until they are the only team left.
The game features excellent combat and movement mechanics and is generally regarded as one of the more competent battle-royale games out there. Players can choose one amongst the many pre-prepared character models, each of which has it own playstyle and unique move-set.
The game was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 4, 2019. A Nintendo Switch version released in March 2021. Android and iOS ports are planned for 2022.
