With the end of the series in sight, Attack on Titan’s manga has been gearing up for the series finale. The final arc of the series has been full of information and action-packed scenes to wrap up loose ends of the stories. A significant aspect of what keeps the viewers watching are the mysteries in the series, and it would be a disappointment if they were not cleared before the series’ end.
Eren’s Power-Up
In the last few chapters, Eren has been on quite a run as he inches towards his goal, the destruction of the world. There have been some rather unsettling reveals concerning the power Eren has been using thanks to the power of the Attack Titan. The latest chapter went above and beyond and gave Eren a massive power-up thanks to Ymir, the Founding Titan.
I Choose the Destruction of the World!
Chapter 122, titled “From you, 2000 years ago”, gave insight to the origins of the Founding Titans. It showcased how Ymir, transformed into the first Titan and later revealed that the transformation was just the latest in a series of nasty tragedies. Eren finally broke through to Ymir by promising her to put an end to her suffering, by ending the world itself.
Tasked with the job to keep the subjects of Ymir from reproducing by Zeke, Ymir begins her preparation; however, she is stopped in the process inside the coordinate space by Eren. Eren uses his powers in the coordinate space to see the past and the future to understand the full story of her becoming. Seeing the tragedies that befell Ymir, Eren begs her to put an end to this vicious cycle of Titans. He gives her an option, wander around the coordinate space till the end of time, or to destroy the world by pooling her powers with Eren. Ymir decides to choose the latter and lends Eren her power.
As time continues outside of the coordinate space, it is revealed that Eren recovered even after his head was completely blown off from his shoulders. Soon after, the walls around Eldia begin to crumble, and the titans inside the wall awaken. With the control of the giant wall titans in one hand, Eren can finally begin the destruction of the world.
About Attack on Titan:
Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by Titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and worst of all, seem to do it for pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls which are even taller than the biggest Titans.
Fast forward to the present, and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren Jaeger and his sister Mikasa Ackerman witnessed something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a Colossal Titan that appears out of thin air.
