3. Episode 2 Recap
Aono spots a couple of girls laughing and teasing Akine for playing the violin. While Takeda sensei accuses him of being curious because he was watching her, Aono claims he was there to complain about the noise and will not teach her since he has quit playing. Sensei reminds him of his gifted talent.
Akine catches up to Aono after school and insists he fixes her broken violin. Aono brings her to his studio, where she is shocked by its size and extravagance, unaware of who Aono’s father is. Akine insists that he play, but he remains firm and refuses.
Akine begins to play Kanon, a song Aono recognizes from his past. He guides her to play it properly. When she thanks him, Aono reveals his parents’ divorce was why he quit, but she says she does not think that is the reason.
When Aono looks for Akine at school the next day, he finds her in her classroom, faced with a few other girls crouching behind her in fear. He learns that she used to bully a girl, which led to her transfer, and he realizes he knows nothing about her. Aono asks Takeda sensei about her reputation, and he reveals that Akine never bullied anyone but stood up against the girl who was the true bully.
The girl then transferred, blaming it on Akine. The other girls in class continue to bully her, leading to Akine studying alone. Sensei asks Aono to be her friend and gives him his violin, asking him to return it to Akine. Aono goes to her house at sensei’s request, which causes Akine to thank him, and he blushes.
She then takes him to the riverside and tells him she will stop by his soundproof studio again to practice, causing him to blush again. Aono talks about her harassment at school, and Akine admits that even though sometimes she wishes not to attend school, she comes to play the violin.
Aono admires her mental strength and holds her while she plays to help her, causing her to blush and quickly pull away. She asks him to play for him instead, and he finally agrees, relieved he cannot hear his father’s sound anymore. He plays for Akine, mesmerizing her and the crowd around them.
