The short anime film Fire Craft (Hizukuri) is a testament to how our small interactions with others can lead to many new things.
Naoki Matsuura, an anime director, known for his work in Black Clover, started work on this original anime from an interaction with a scissor smith simply known as “Mr. Sasuke.” The project, which Mr. Matsuura announced in 2016, has seen many ups and downs.
With 2021 rolling on, fan’s expectations too have risen along with the scope of the project.
Fire Craft’s youtube channel released a new trailer, and the end card of the trailer reveals that the anime short will be released in 2022.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into a surreal world with floating mega structures and giant windmills. Our main character is an unnamed boy who is clutching a pair of gardening scissors.
The theme song of Fire Craft titled “Dry Dry Try” is by music band UQiYO, and is heard in the background.

The anime follows the tale of the boy as he sets out on a journey to distinct land to repair the broken scissors that belonged to his father. The only other person in the trailer is a blacksmith inspired by the real-life scissor blacksmith, Mr. Sasuke, who works in Sakai City, Osaka.

The anime production is expected to cost around 8 million yen, according to director Naoki Matsuura.
Out of which, 1.7 million yen have been raised through crowdfunding, and Mr. Matsuura’s private property will cover the remaining.
With such an exciting story behind the anime, it will be interesting to see how well the actual plot of the anime adapts from this. We hope that the wait is worth it till 2022!

In a parallel world, a little boy finds a pair of scissors from the belongings of his deceased father. He learns that his father was a gardener.
He finds out that the scissors were made by Sasuke, an artisan from a foreign country. The boy sets out on a journey to find Sasuke and repair the scissors.
