A tale set in the lesser-known era of Japanese history will finally make its way to television as an anime. While several stories are set in the warring states period, this one is set before that.
Moreover, the hero is not an ordinary samurai because his special ability is to run and hide. While this sounds a little insulting, it keeps him alive from his enemies and allows him to prepare for vengeance.
On Monday, the sixteenth issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed that The Elusive Samurai will be adapted as an anime series. An official website and Twitter account were also launched, which revealed the first teaser and visual.
The video above gives the first look at how the main character Hojo Tokiyuki would look in the anime. It shows the same image as the visual.
Yusei Matsui, the creator of the original manga is best known for his works Neuro – Supernatural Detective and Assassination Classroom which also inspired an anime series.
CloverWorks will handle the production of animation for The Elusive Samurai anime. Yuta Yamazaki will direct the series and Yoriko Tomita will write the scripts. Yasushi Nishiya is designing the characters for the anime.
The voice cast has not been revealed as of now. However, a lot of fans speculate Mariya Ise (Killua Zoldyck in Hunter x Hunter) or Ayumu Murase (Iruma in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun) to voice Hojo Tokiyuki.
Fans have been waiting for this series to get adapted for a long time, along with Sakamoto Days. Now that the former has been announced, we can surely expect the other to be announced soon.
