Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell is finally back with a new film after his 2015 venture starring Jennifer Lawrence. The new trailer dropped for Russell’s period-mystery-comedy film, featuring an epic ensemble of cast, high-riding suspense, and drama.
Russell’s film stars Hollywood big names such as Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, John David Washington, Anna Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.
The upcoming film, produced by Drake, also stars Taylor Swift and Chris Rock, adding even more excitement to the film’s fame.
Set in the ’30s and based on a true story, the film will release in theaters on October 7, 2022. It tells the story of a nurse, an attorney, and a doctor, who make a pact to always protect each other. When they are targeted as suspects in a murder they didn’t commit, the only people they can trust are each other.
The film promises head-swirling drama, mind-boggling mystery, hilarious comedy, and some epic romances on the way. The star cast promises viewers some excellent action, and David O. Russell’s direction will surely not disappoint, if his previous works are to be believed.
The trailer was released recently by 20th Century Studios in July 2022, teasing events that will prove to be pivotal in American history as we know it. The trailer opens with comedian Chris Rock’s character stating, “You got a dead white man in a box.”
The trailer features a pact made by Robbie’s Valerie, Washington’s Harold, and Bale’s Burt, tested when they find themselves involved in a murder case. “We find ourselves in a situation where we’re accused of killing someone, which is not true,” says Bale’s Burt. This explains the friends will try and solve the murder mystery to prove their innocence.
The trailer reveals that the victim was a friend of Robert De Niro’s Gil, beseeching him for help in finding the real killer. Gil also discloses that the true mystery doesn’t lie in the murder but in why the murder was committed. Valerie states, “This is turning out to be a lot bigger than any of us.”
Harold and Burt must follow Valerie’s lead on getting out of the conundrum the three friends face with a complicated plan, claiming that it’ll be a “cakewalk” with their involvement. Will it indeed work out that well, or will the three find themselves trapped in the dangerous game of truth-seeking?
The film will release in theaters next month, and the box office hopes are on the rise as audiences mark their calendars for the epic story coming out on October 7.
