American Gods is coming back to TV with its third season. Starz, the cable network on which the show airs, announced the arrival of season three of American Gods at New York Comic-Con with a brand-new trailer. There have been a few changes in the series since the second season came out in March 2019. But from the looks of the trailer, it seems like the third season is going to be thunderous.
At the end of the second season, the world had descended into chaos when Crispin Glover’s character Mr World had wrongfully blamed Mr Wednesday and Shadow to be the cause of the Bellefontaine massacre. As the public went hysterical, another bomb dropped in Shadow’s life- it was revealed that Mr Wednesday, the Norse God Odin, was his father.
In season three, Shadow has moved to a wintry hamlet in Wisconsin, called Lakeside, to lay low for a couple of months. But he cannot run away from trouble; Lakeside has a few secrets of its own. Shadow realizes that he cannot simply choose not to be a God.
Orlando Jones, who played Mr Nancy in the first two seasons of the show, had been controversially fired in 2018 after showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green left. He will not be appearing in the third season.
Marilyn Manson has been added to the cast in the new season. He will be playing Johan Wengren, the lead singer of the Viking death metal band Blood Death. Needless to say, the role fits him perfectly.
