Recently, AMD shared a few benchmark results which compared AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D to Core i9-13900K and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and the results demonstrated a 24% and 30% performance boost respectively. But those numbers weren’t representative of the results gamers should expect.
AMD shared another set of benchmarks which showed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Core i9-13900K in head-to-head comparison for gaming. There was a 6.9% performance gain, a number that was derived from 21 games tested at 1080p resolution with high settings.
Of course, this is still a first-party benchmark, so nothing’s remotely comparable to independent testing. For now, this is the best thing that’s out there before independent test results are published later on.
For a better sense of comparison, Core i9-13900K’s is 7% faster than AMD Ryzen 9 7950X and 11% faster than the 12900K and it is Intel’s flagship processor priced at $589. But for a processor at a sub-$500 price point, the performance of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is pretty solid.
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the newest Raphael CPU to launch with 3D V-Cache and it is set to feature 104MB of combined L2 and L3 cache, which is more than twice that of the 7700X 8-Core CPU (40MB). The Ryzen 7 7800X3 will be slower in synthetic benchmarks, based on the early review benchmarks, but it’ll be much better when it comes to gaming.
One thing that may concern you about the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the price as it’s officially launching on April 6th at a price of $449, which is $110 more than its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7700X. Other than that, it’s a pretty efficient processor which is powerful and relatively less expensive when compared to Intel’s latest processors.
