AMD unveiled the new Ryzen 5000G processors during their Computex keynote, and hardware enthusiasts can expect the processor to hit the shelves by summer. The Ryzen 7 5700G and the Ryzen 5 5600G revealed during the keynote are touted to be very powerful as they have built-in graphics right on the chip.
For now, the AMD Ryzen 5000G APUs have been designed for pre-built rigs and have already started shipping to OEMs. But, unlike the 4000G series, AMD has promised that this line of processors will be made available for home-built PCs “later this year.” This is excellent news for gamers who cannot get their hands on graphics cards, thanks to the global shortage and scalpers and cryptomining hoarders.
AMD has announced six new APUs, namely the 65W Ryzen 7 5700G, Ryzen 7 5700GE, Ryzen 5 5600G, and the 35W Ryzen 5 5600GE, Ryzen 3 5300G, and Ryzen 3 5300GE. Out of these six, the Ryzen 5700G and the Ryzen 5 5600G are the first two to launch.

The Ryzen 5000G series processors are built on the Zen 3 architecture with support for 24 lanes of PCIe 3.0 and DDR4-3200 memory. The Ryzen 7 5700G is an octa-core processor equipped with 16 threads and clock speeds of 3.8GHz, boosted clock speeds up to 4.6GHz and a 65W TDP. It features Radeon Vega graphics with eight compute units with a clock speed of 2.0GHz.
The Ryzen 5 5600G has a six-core configuration with 12 threads, clock speed of 3.9GHz, can be boosted to 4.4GHz. It too has a TDP of 65W and Radeon Vega graphics with seven compute units operating at 1.9GHz.
The Ryzen 5 5600G is priced at $259 and the Ryzen 7 5700G is priced at $350.
AMD is making big performance claims with these new processors. The Ryzen 5000G series processors are capable of 1080p gaming as well as streaming content in 4K and HDR, and AMD claims that the Ryzen 5700G is between 35% to 80% faster on average when compared to Intel’s Core i7-10700 when it comes to tasks regarding creativity, productivity, and benchmarking apps.
With the ongoing shortage affecting even AMD’s own Radeon RX 6000 series GPUS, the arrival of a processor with on-board graphics may be just what gamers are looking for. But, keep in mind that the processors will only be available in pre-built systems for the near future, and we’re likely to see OEMs announce their pre-built rigs in the coming weeks.
These two processors are set to hit the market from August 5th 2021, so make sure you get your hands on them before the scalpers and hoarders do!
