AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Raphael CPU Is Up To 22% Faster Than Core i9-12900K

Both AMD and Intel are preparing for the launch of their upcoming CPU lineup, and as the launch of both of them comes closer and closer, we have started seeing leaked benchmarks and performance figures, particularly of engineering samples.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Zen 4 CPU appeared within the UserBenchmark database. According to the information, the chip is an engineering sample with OPN ID ‘100-000000593-20_Y’.

The latest entry shows the chip running on the NZXT B650 motherboard, which ASRock manufactures. The platform was running two 16 GB DDR5-4800 memory modules running at 4800 MT/s speed.

The AM5-based SKU features 6 cores and 12 threads and is based on the Zen 4 core architecture. The CPU had a base clock of 4.4 GHz and an average turbo-boosted clock speed of 4.95 GHz.

The base clock speed is significantly higher than the Ryzen 5 5600X, which clocked at 3.70 GHz. On the other hand, turbo clock is just slightly higher than the 4.6 GHz of Ryzen 5 5600X. This turbo clock speed is lower than speculated as we have already seen Ryzen 7000 samples running far above the 5.00 GHz range.

UserBenchmark is known to be biased against AMD products, but still, if we compare this SKU to the 5600X, we get a 56% higher single-core performance and up to 49% in quad-core.

Intel Core i9 12900K Average Score

The notable part is that the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X still outperforms Intel’s flagship Core i9-12900K in single-core tests. The Ryzen 5 7600X scores an impressive 243 points, whereas the Intel Alder Lake Core i9-12900K scores an average of 200 points. This is a 22% higher single-threaded performance increase.

When we come to the multi-core tests, the AMD Chip loses out to the Alder Lake flagship, and why won’t it since it only packs 6 cores and 12 threads versus the 16 cores and 24 threads?

Although, compared to the Ryzen 5 5600X, the CPU offers an impressive 23% performance uplift. Considering this is an Engineering Sample, we can be looking at up to a 30% performance increase with the actual product.

AMD’s next-gen CPU lineup is looking impressive till now, but just two months away from the launch, we still don’t know which one of Intel and AMD will come out on top. The AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors should come out in September 2022.
