A few days ago, we spoke about how a leaked image had hinted at a new AMD graphics card launch. Now, it seems we have even more news to confirm that the AMD RX 6600 XT will be releasing soon. Very soon. In fact, the latest report suggests it may be released in August and we also have a tentative price tag.
Various leakers have come forward with the alleged pricing information for the new card. According to the details, the card may not come with the mainstream pricing fans hoped for but will feature performance slightly higher than the previous expectations.
Coreteks and Moore’s Law is Dead talk about the expected price of the card in their latest video, along with the possible launch date of the RX 6600 XT. Unfortunately, the most compact of the RDNA 2 GPUs will not be coming with a small price tag. Coreteks states that the card will arrive in August, so we might get an official announcement about the card by mid to late July.
The price is said to be $399 US MSRP, which is much higher than the previously speculated price range of $299-$329 US. The current price tag puts it at the same level as an RTX 360 Ti. This is also the same price AMD had charged for its Radeon RX 4700 XT graphics card, which had been based on a higher-end chip than the Navi 23.
No reason has been given for the price bump, but it seems that paying extra for the RX 6700 XT might be a better decision if the RX 6600 XT is really around the $400 mark.
The performance numbers of this card are said to be much closer to the Radeon RX 5700 XT and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, with a difference of about 5%. This does sound exciting, but it is to be expected as it is a higher-clocked RDNA 2 chip. While it will be interesting to see how the RX 6600 XT performs in some real-world testing, the price tag seems to be the major low point of the card.
