The ASUS TUF A16 is a 16-inch laptop with Ryzen 7 7735HS or Ryzen 9 7940HS. The model is equipped with AMD’s first RDNA3 mobile GPU, either the Radeon RX 7600S or the RX 7700S. NotebookCheck recently received a sample, and the review is interesting to say the least.
AMD Radeon RX 7700S is 12% faster than the last-gen RX 6800S while the RX 7600S is just 1% faster.
AMD Radeon RX 7600S has 1792 Stream Processors, and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. The RX 7700S also has 8GB GDDR6 memory but with 32 Compute Units. A notable difference between the two cards is that the former operates in a power envelope of 50-75W and has a lower TDP than the RX 7700S by 25W.
In terms of gaming performance, the ASUS TUF A16 ends up being slower than Lenovo’s Legion S7, which comes with the high-power limit of Ryzen 9 6900HX.
Here are the specs for AMD’s Radeon RX 7700S and RX 7600S:
Radeon RX 7700S | Radeon RX 7600S | |
GPU | Navi 33 | Navi 33 |
FP32 Cores | 4096 | 3584 |
Boost Clock | 2.20 GHz | 1.88 GHz |
Memory | 8GB GDDR6 | 8GB GDDR6 |
TGP | 75-100W | 50-75W |
With similar Ryzen CPUs, the Radeon RX 7600S will deliver performance close to the RX 6800S. AMD has a lot to offer, and with the right setup, you truly can unlock its highest capability. The ASUS TUF A16 is not available for sale yet.
