Ahead of upcoming launches, NVIDIA and AMD are facing an inventory problem with an influx of RTX 30 and RX 6000 series GPUs. Buyers have several options, while companies are adamant about not decreasing their MSRPs.
Graphics cards are being sold for way less than their MSRPs in China after a massive price drop.
Miners are selling off their GPUs while retailers are repeatedly lowering prices. A Baidu forums member has prepared a report for each card. The chart shows that not a single card was sold at its MSRP. This goes on to show how chaotic the market has become.
NVIDIA’s flagship RTX 3090 Ti was sold for $1415, which is 38% under MSRP. Its base model, the RTX 3090, also retailed for $1266, about 29% under MSRP.
AMD’s processors also faced a similar problem. The Radeon RX 6900 XT is listed for $744, almost 37.5% less than the standard price.
The price drop is expected to continue until the new GPUs are launched. AMD is expected to launch Radeon RX 7900 XT this December while NVIDIA’s Lovelace architecture-based RTX 4080 will be available around September.
