Teaser Trailer For Amazon’s The Wheel Of Time Adaptation Is Here

Amazon Prime Video has revealed the teaser trailer and announced a premiere date for its fantasy series, The Wheel Of Time.

The teaser looks thrilling and has beautiful landscapes that can send chills down your spine. Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) is heard narrating about the magical power possessed by a select group of women, who are the prime ‘channelers’ of magic in the world.

The official synopsis for The Wheel Of Time reads:

Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers.

There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

Based on the popular book series by Robert Jordan (pen name for James Oliver Rigney, Jr.), the novels have sold 44 million copies worldwide.

The original novels were published from 1990 to 2005 until Jordan’s death in 2007, leaving the planned 12th and final volume incomplete.

Brandon Sanderson was then tasked to complete the tale using Jordan’s partially-finished manuscript, pre-written ending, and extensive notes into a conclusion trilogy (which collectively consists of more than 2,500 pages).

The novels have built quite a legacy that the show will have a humongous task of embodying. The Wheel of Time books have 2782 distinct named characters.

Of course, many characters will be cut out from the series. However, the first season has 35 confirmed characters so far.

Besides Pike, the series’ main cast includes Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris, and Madeleine Madden.

Rest of the cast members are Daniel Henney, Michael McElhatton, Álvaro Morte, Hammed Animashaun, Alexandre Willaume, Johann Myers, Jennifer Cheon Garcia, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Daryl McCormack, Emmanuel Imani, among others.

Hopefully, the series will not disappoint the book fans, given the fact that Amazon has already picked up a second season of the show, which began production in July.

Season 1 of The Wheel of Time consists of eight episodes. The first three episodes are scheduled to drop on Prime Video on November 19, with the rest of season 1 airing weekly through December 24.

There is also a prequel movie trilogy reportedly in the works. The first film will be called Age of Legends and is being written by Zack Stentz.

Age of Legends will take place several millennia before the books and the show, narrating the origins of the Aes Sedai.

The epic fantasy adaptation story might interest fans who like other adaptations like Game of Thrones (not the last season, yikes) and The Witcher.

The Wheel Of Time will premiere on November 19, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video.
