Amazon Delists some material from J-Novel Club on Kindle

Otakus outside Japan have always had to wait for publishers to release English translations of their favorite mangas and light novels. Amazon has served as a retailer along with many others who supply these otakus with the English releases.

Amazon Kindle has served as an excellent platform for those readers who don’t prefer physical copies and like to keep all their books digitally.

Amazon has delisted mangas and novels by J-Novel Club — Clockwork Planet

The Kindle service provides many Japanese light novels and mangas on its platform from various publishers.

J-Novel Club has been one of the digital publishers who have partnered with Amazon to publish English translation of Japanese light novels and mangas.

J-Novel Club announced on July 14 that Amazon had removed some of their publications from Amazon Kindle:

How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (Novel)
Clockwork Planet (Novel)
The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan (Novel)
I Shall Survive Using Potions! (Novel and manga)

We verified today that starting July 11th, all books in the series The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan, I Shall Survive Using Potions (Manga+LN), How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, and Clockwork Planet (LN) are no longer available for sale on Amazon Kindle (except .co.jp)

All the novels and mangas that have been delisted are no longer available on Amazon Kindle, except for the original Japanese versions of the material.

Amazon has also stopped the preorder for the 6th volume of The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan.

J-Novel Club also announced that it had not received any notification of the delistings by Amazon and that they were made aware of the delistings through messages from users who couldn’t find their material on the e-commerce site.

It was later verified from Amazon that Kindle Content Review had removed their books. But J-Novel Club was not provided with any reason for the removal.

J-Novel Club assured readers that those who had already purchased the books digitally would still be able to read and redownload them from their Amazon account.

This removal of novels and mangas by Amazon has also been seen for Yen Press’ release of the No Game, No Life light novels, and Dark Horse Comics’ releases of the Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei. Although both these publishers have not yet made any statements.
