‘Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian’ Novels Inspire TV Anime

Have you ever come across situations when someone talks to someone else in a language totally alien to you? Normally one would find himself annoyed or left out of the conversation. But what if you know that language and choose to stay silent about it, that can be quite amusing.

On Friday, Kadokawa announced that SunSunSun’s light novel series Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian will get an anime adaptation. A teaser video was released with its Russian version on Kadokawa’s official YouTube channel.

The video shows a few illustrations from light novels and manga, and mainly showcases Alisa(Alya) with her voice in the background. She speaks Japanese and Russian. Other characters including Masachika, Yuki, and Maria are also shown but not much.

Sumire Uesaka and Kōhei Amasaki will reprise their roles as Alisa Mikhailovna Kujō and Masachika Kuze respectively.

As per Kadokawa, Alya will also debut as a VTuber. The video below gives a first glance at her avatar.

Further information about the additional cast, staff, and release date is yet to be revealed. But Alya’s debut as a VTuber is something you do not get to hear often.

It might look like a run-of-the-mill school romance but there must be some reason why it recently became one of the top 10 bunkobon titles by Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!).

About Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian(Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Aalya-san) is a light novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco. Originally published as short stories, it is published by Kadokawa Shoten since February 2021.

Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou (Alya) is a half-Russian and half-Japanese school student who is considered an idol because of her mesmerizing beauty and silver hair. Masachika Kuze is one of her bench mates who is just an average schoolboy who loves anime.

Alya often behaves harshly with Masachika and sometimes speaks in Russian to express her true feelings. However, she does not know that Masachika understands Russian.
