Vinland is an unlockable area in AC Valhalla where you have the option to complete other missions besides the main story ones, but you might also be wondering about its true existence in connection to the real world.

Eivor was in pursuit of a member of the order who stole a crystal ball while visiting Vinland. While apprehending him, he came across the tribe Kanien’kehá:ka and left the artifact in their care. This very artifact was present in Connor’s village in AC 3, establishing a connection between both the games.
AC 3 is set in the year 1754, way past Christopher Columbus’s discovery and the naming of America. So, the Vinland featured in 1754 is already modernized and referred to as a part of North America.
But, for AC Valhalla, the quest of a Viking sailor sailing to an unknown land for the first time marks great importance in the history of Vikings.

2. How Big is Vinland in AC Valhalla?
Vinland a.k.a modern day Newfoundland is a vast mission area in AC Valhalla. Surrounded by forests and beautiful landscapes, Vinland is a comparably large map in the game.
But unlocking the map is a whole different story in itself. You cannot just load AC Valhalla and start playing the Vinland missions right off the bat. Instead, you need to have a good amount of progress in the game before you try out the Vinland side mission.
3. How to Unlock Vinland Map in AC Valhalla?
Before you try to unlock Vinland as a side quest map, make sure you have successfully done these following tasks:
- Pledged your alliance to the Lunden region.
- Built the Hidden Ones Bureau in Ravensthrope.
- Completed the Lunden story arc.
After these are complete you’ll be able to unlock Vinland, while talking to Randvi. You can meet Nessa at the docks in Ravensthrope who will take you to Vinland on a boat.
But remember, you will not have any of your resources when you reach Vinland. So, you have to start afresh and gather them before proceeding with the quests.
You also don’t need to worry about losing progress in the main story arc as the Vinland arc is completely unrelated to that. You can finish it anytime you want without hindering your normal gameplay.
All in all, Vinland is definitely a place worth visiting if you’re bored with the usual boring sceneries of the main story.
