What is the International Anime Music Festival?
The International Anime Music Festival (IAMF) is an immersive concert experience featuring famous virtual pop stars coming together live on stage for the first time. It will be led by a DJ, and will be specially curated for you and your favorite virtual Youtubers.
The IAMF will be a multimedia rave event with state-of-the-art LED lights and lasers, and HD animated projections and holograms. The goal is to create the perfect visual environment for the anime pop stars to perform their biggest hits.
Who will be performing at the International Anime Music Festival?
The International Anime Music Festival will feature 5 artists/groups: the original Singeroid Kizuna AI or “#kzn”, the vocal duo HimeHina, the trio MaRiNaSu, the fan favorite Gumi, and the pop twins Lilypse.
These are Vocaloid sensations who have garnered fame and love worldwide.
For the uninitiated, Vocaloid is an AI-based software that can synthesize voices and entire songs with music. These voices are created from a voicebank that is made with samples from real human voices, especially known singers.
Vocaloid was first developed by Yamaha Corporation and now similar software is created worldwide.
These 5 virtual pop stars are globally recognized members of the anime-music movement.
Originating in Japan, these virtual avatars have taken over the scene in the past 2 years, and collectively have billions of views across Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and others.
1. Kizuna
Kizuna or #kzn is one of the most famous Japanese AI song voices. She was created by Kizuna AI Inc. through the voicebank CeVIO AI. Her voice is provided by the virtual Youtuber (VTuber), Kizuna AI.
Kizuna AI started her initial performances back in 2016 and was hailed as the first VTuber worldwide. Kizuna chan is the pioneer who is credited with coining the phrase Virtual YouTuber itself, with more than 4.5 million subscribers currently.
The Japanese voice actress Nozomi Kasuga disclosed that she was the main voice for Kizuna AI in 2020.
Kizuna currently has 15 original songs including Lyric Rock, Connect!, and Hello, Dreamer.
2. HimeHina
HimeHina is a virtual duo consisting of a dissimilar pair with perfect chemistry. Hime Tanaka is high on emotions and this reflects in her high-pitched voice, while Hina Suzuki is gentler and has a spaced-out vibe.
They’re the first VTuber duo to top the High-Reso charts in Asia. Their debut album Divine Flowers became widely popular in 2020.
HimeHina also have their own name for their fans; they’re called Joji.
3. MaRiNaSu
MaRiNaSu is a virtual music ensemble consisting of Mahiro Kaname, Rin Toma, Naho Otonoha, and Subaru Suzuna. They sing as well as dance, and have 14 released songs in the form of an album.
Marinasu is produced by Avex of Japan and is all set for their international debut in 2023.
4. Gumi
Gumi is a beloved Vocaloid, famous in North America and western anime music. She is named after the Japanese voice actress, Megumi Nakajima and has released 10 albums since 2009.
Gumi was originally known as Megpoid – a mix of Megumi and Vocaloid. Today, she is known as Gumi and has received several merchandise opportunities to help connect with more people.
Gumi’s voice has been used widely for Youtube content. Her song, Echo, has over 70 million views. Gumi currently has 6 Vocaloid versions and the latest one, her voicebank was updated with an English AI vocal.
5. LiLypse
LiLypse is a twin-sister duo who aren’t as well known as other virtual pop stars. Mikando and Oboro Akatsuki – sun and moon – have had plenty of concerts before but the International Anime Music Festival will be the first one on this scale.
Lilypse conducts online live streams on Youtube and their Twitter is also abuzz with promotions for the upcoming festival.
Where and when is the International Anime Music Festival happening?
The International Anime Music Festival world tour will take off on February 6, 2023, in North America, followed by Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America through 2023.
The tour schedule for North America is already out, with 37 current locations which will host the festival from Feb. 6 to March 31.
