Here are All the Ways Valve Has Improved the Steam Deck This Month

Ever since the Steam Deck was first announced, Valve has been working hard in the office to improve its new handheld. Over this month, the developers’ efforts have been so exemplary that enthusiasts are being filled with regret for not pre-ordering the Deck a while ago.

Commemorating the Deck’s one-month anniversary, Valve released a short video on YouTube to provide a quick look at all the improvements that the handheld has seen in the past 30 days.

The video commenced by demonstrating the addition of dual trackpad typing to let users type more naturally and swiftly, along with the inclusion of brand-new keyboard themes with cool designs and colors.

A Few Things Added To Steam Deck This Month

The game library has also seen a major revamp that allows for faster scrolling and filtering of titles using dynamic collections based on game attributes and tags.

Rapid draining of Steam Deck’s battery life has always been a hot potato in the community, but Valve has been steadily overcoming this pressing issue.

For instance, the gaming hardware now enables optimization for extended play or maximum performance as per the need of the games.

This means that players can manually decrease all power consumption settings and limit frames at 15fps, which is suitable for playing undemanding visual novels or puzzle games.

A quick-access button for reporting bugs, a download screen that’s easier to read, and easy-to-access patch notes are all added to the Deck. A progress bar and timer have also been incorporated to tell users how long the formatting of a microSD card can take.

All these refinements have taken an already robust, open, and unrestrictive console to the very next level. It’s a breath of fresh air to see a company permitting enthusiasts to do whatever they want with a device.

The fact that over 2,000 verified titles are now available on the handheld is further the cherry on top as it speaks in a significant volume of all the resources and love that the developer has poured into the making of such an unimpeded product.

Given that it has only been a month, it’s fair to say that Valve has already knocked it out of the park, and the best part is that the handheld is only going to get better with the ripples in time.
