The Naruto series is one of the most well-known franchises in the world. Even after Naruto’s original story has ended, its fanbase keeps on growing, and as one of the greatest clans to ever exist, the Uchiha are always being talked about.
With members such as Itachi, Sasuke, and Madara, this clan has made a long-lasting impression on us, especially when considering their dojutsu and its influence on the Naruto Universe.
One of their best-known abilities, Susanoo, has various forms and just like me, most of us must have at least once argued about the superior one. In this list below, I had talked about the top Susanoo’s in Naruto Shippuden, out of which one is a bit unique compared to the rest!
Susanoo is the manifestation of a user’s chakra that takes the form of a gigantic, humanoid avatar. It is the strongest ability only available to those who have awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan in both eyes.
When activated, Susanoo forms around the user and becomes an extension of their will. They all have different forms and get more completed as the user gains mastery over it. Here are the top 7 Susanoo’s in the series.
7 Shisui Uchiha’s Susanoo
After witnessing his friend die, Shisui awakened his Mangekyou Sharingan and manifested Susanoo. His Susanoo is shown to be green in color and has blade-like attachments on its shoulders, the side of its face, and along its forearms.
When displaying its humanoid form, the Susanoo takes on a fiendish look with a red tomoe in the center of its chest, which can unleash a barrage of chakra needles at an incredible speed.
While Shisui has not been seen using it in the series, in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, he has an exclusive Complete Body-Susanoo form with a second pair of wing-shaped arms, tengu like features, and a large sword.
Shisui’s Susanoo is the weakest in the Naruto series because it has not shown much power besides brute strength. The utter lack of scenes on its part is a significant factor too.
6 Itachi Uchiha’s Susanoo
After witnessing Shisui’s suicide, Itachi awakened his Mangekyou Sharingan, and subsequently, his Susanoo.
In the manga, his Susanoo is revealed to be yellow, while in the anime, its skeletal and humanoid forms are shown to be red and orange, respectively.
While manifesting its humanoid form, its face is framed by locks of hair, and an appendage on its chin. When its skeletal armor is formed, it resembles a long-nosed tengu and wears a pair of magatama earrings.
In addition to the chakra swords and Yasaka Magatama familiar to all Susanoo’s, Itachi’s wields the Sword of Totsuka, which can seal any person it pierces into its gourd and the Yata Mirror which can reflect any attack by changing its chakra nature.
The simultaneous use of both weapons makes it virtually invincible.
Itachi’s Susanoo is not the strongest in the series because it drains a lot of his strength, and therefore, he cannot maintain it for long.
Along with its lack of destructive power, and inability to form a Complete Body, he is surpassed by the others.
However, while Itachi has not been seen using the Complete Body Susanoo, in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, it is revealed that he is indeed capable of using it. This ranks Itachi in the 6th place on this list.
5 Madara Uchiha’s Susanoo
Having awakened his Mangekyou Sharingan, Madara could manifest a Susanoo that was dark blue. His Susanoo is made up of two entirely different sides that are conjoined along their spine.
The front face has elongated canine teeth and two tusks growing from the jaw, while the back face has similarly elongated canine teeth and a single horn protruding from its forehead.
In its armored form, the armor splits from its forehead down, revealing Susanoo’s eyes and forms the Tiger hand seal with its front hands.
Madara’s Susanoo wields distinct, undulating blades that resemble kris, held in the right hand of each side.
He can throw the blades as guided projectiles, and manifest swords made of blue, fire-like chakra that can cut through mountains across great distances.
By implanting his brothers’ eyes into his own, Madara unlocked the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, which gave him access to a perfect Susanoo, whose power was comparable or even higher than that of the tailed beasts.
Due to this, he is ranked 5th on this list.
4 Indra Otsutsuki’s Susanoo
Indra’s awakened the Mangekyou after killing his two closest followers and unlocked the ability to use Susanoo.
Owing to his talent, even without his Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Indra was capable of manifesting his Susanoo’s Complete Body, which had accentuated eye-holes with spikes over it, a long tengu nose, and three gaps on each of its cheeks.
His mastery over the technique was such that his Susanoo could combat Asura’s battle avatar and dwarf the surrounding landscape. Due to this, he is ranked in the 4th position.
3 Sasuke Uchiha’s Susanoo
Sasuke awakened his Mangekyou Sharingan after Itachi’s death and was, therefore, capable of manifesting a Susanoo. It has been implied many times that his Susanoo closely resembles Itachi.
However, because intense feelings of hatred and revenge characterize Sasuke’s development, his Susanoo is much darker in composition compared to the latters.
Like all Susanoo, Sasuke’s has several swords at its disposal, but more often than not, it employs a bow that can fire arrows at rapid speeds, and can double as a shield.
Though most of these arrows are made of the same chakra as Susanoo itself, Sasuke can also fashion arrows made from Amaterasu’s undying flames or, by channeling lightning, forming the Indra’s Arrow, his strongest attack.
When fighting together, Sasuke can form a Susanoo around the Nine-Tails and give it a sword and armor of its own. His power, when doing this, reaches unimaginable heights.
After receiving the Rinnegan, he is able to create a significantly larger Complete Body – Susanoo, which is comparable in power to Tailed Beast Mode.
Sasuke can also use the wings of this form to block out the light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Sasuke’s Susanoo is much stronger than Itachi’s mainly because he has completely mastered its Complete Body form.
With the Rinnegan, Six Paths Chakra, and tailed beasts, his Susanoo is capable of devastating power.
2 Kakashi Hatake’s Susanoo
After Kakashi lost his Sharingan, his body was temporarily inhabited by Obito’s spirit, which allowed him to use both Obito’s Mangekyou Sharingan.
Due to this, he could also manifest an already “Complete Body” form of the Susanoo during his fight against Kaguya.
Kakashi’s Susanoo is light blue and has his distinguishing feature – a vertical mark extending across its left eye. It also uses a katana, but most notably, it wields a Mangekyou-shaped shuriken that can warp away targets on contact.
One thing to note is that Kakashi is the only character on this list to manifest a Susanoo while not naturally possessing or awakening a Sharingan.
Other than its destructive power, one of the features that make Kakashi’s Susanoo extremely powerful is that it has the intangibility of Kamui extended to it. With this, it can either manifest swords or shuriken and warp away whenever.
In addition, Kakashi received some of the Six Paths Chakra, allowing him to use this ability multiple times with no effect on his health or eyesight. Talk about being overpowered!
1 Hagoromo Otsutsuki’s Susanoo
After being forced to injure his younger brother fatally, Hagoromo awakened Mangekyou Sharingan in both eyes, and thus was able to use a light blue Susanoo.
The defining characteristics of his Susanoo were two tufts of hair that fell on each side of the face and a single horn that protruded from the chin.
His Susanoo was much larger than other users, reaching a size that was comparable to the Ten-Tails.
Hagoromo’s Susanoo is the strongest in the series because of its Complete Body form that could fight on par with Kaguya’s Ten-Tails form. It was even able to deflect one of the Ten-Tails’ Tailed Beast Ball by utilizing chakra blades.
Due to this, he is ranked first on this list.
