Horizon Forbidden West has a wide variety of armor or outfits that grant Aloy protection against the different forms of danger she encounters throughout her adventurous journey in this vast open-world game. All the outfits in the game belong to a particular skill group and rarity. When equipped, each outfit grants additional resistance value against various damages along with some unique skills.
There are six skill groups in Horizon Forbidden West: Warrior, Trapper, Hunter, Survivor, Infiltrator, Machine Master. So, to get the best results, it is better to choose an outfit from the same skill group that you are scaling and suits your playstyle.

Tenakth Tactician is the best outfit for the Machine Master skill group. It can be purchased from the Stitcher in Thornmarsh in exchange for 2000 Shards, 1 Apex Slitherfang Heart, and 1 Tremortusk Circulator.
This legendary armor provides average resistance against melee attacks and impacts, but it is the best armor out there to use against fire damage. Unfortunately, it is highly vulnerable to purgewater and acid damage.

Just like Tenakth Tactician, this outfit also has average melee and impact damage resistance, but it boasts superiority among all the legendary outfits in withstanding plasma damage. Regardless, it is weak against fire and acid damage. This outfit also offers some unique stealth-based skills.

This outfit offers incredible resistance against acid damage, but it is vulnerable to fire and plasma damage. It has similar resistance stats as any other legendary outfit for the other damage types.

This outfit is one of the best-looking ones in the game. It offers excellent impact resistance and several unique close combat skills. But even the strongest of the armors have cracks, just like this one can’t stand frost and plasma damage.

This legendary outfit is incredibly enduring against frost damage but average against physical attacks. It is also weak against fire and acid damage like the Utaru Winterweave. But it offers some excellent trapper abilities that are exclusive to this outfit. Unfortunately, it is not as good-looking as the other outfits mentioned here.

Oseram Artificer is the best outfit for the Warrior skill group. It can be acquired as a reward by completing all the 17 Salvager Contracts and returning to Keruf.
This outfit is definitely worth your time grinding over the salvager contracts as it provides the best physical damage resistance among all the legendary armors. It also offers a few special close combat perks, but it is highly vulnerable to frost and plasma damage. Despite these rare shortcomings, it is still a beautiful and durable armor set.
