The adventurous and mysterious world of the Elden Ring is home to many creepy yet powerful creatures that pose a threat to the players’ journey across the Lands Between. The mighty dragons of the game are a few such creatures that can turn out to be a nightmare for some players.
Dragons are fierce winged beasts in Elden Ring that deal severe damage to the player using unique physical, elemental, and AoE attacks that even add several debuffs to the players. But, once you kill some particular dragons, they generally drop a Dragon Heart, an extremely useful consumable item in the game.
There are twenty (21) Dragon Hearts that you can collect across four (5) major regions/locations of the Lands Between in Elden Ring.

1. Limgrave Dragon Heart Location
- Flying Dragon Agheel- Commonly, this is the first dragon you will encounter in the game. It lands in the center of Limgrave Lake, located south of the Limgrave Tunnels site of grace, east of the Church of Elleh, and west of the Waypoint Ruins Cellar grace site in central Limgrave.
2. Liurnia Dragon Hearts Location
- Glintstone Dragon Smarag- This dragon can be found in the center of the Liurnia of the Lakes, located due south of the Crystalline Woods Site of Grace. You will arrive at this location while exploring the lake area north of Temple District.
- Magma Wyrm Makar- Makar is found in Ruin-Strewn Precipice in the north Liurnia of the Lakes, located just west of the Ruin-Strewn Precipice Site of Grace. It is guarding the entrance to the Altus Plateau region. Ride along the stream branching out to the north of the central lake in Liurnia, and at the end of the stream, you will reach Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
- Glintstone Dragon Adula- Adula is found in the center of the Three Sisters sub-region, located in northern Liurnia. You can only find this dragon by following the Ranni the Witch’s questline that gives you access to elevated areas of Liurnia.
Once you reduce Adula’s health bar to half, it will teleport to the Cathedral of Manus Celes, a location that will become accessible to you later in the quest.
- Three Unnamed Glintstone Dragons- These three typical dragons are resting around a pillar west of the Moonlight Alter, located in southwest Liurnia. They drop one Dragon Heart each when killed.
3. Caelid Dragon Hearts Location
- Decaying Ekzykes- You can find this dragon blocking the road to the Cathedral Dragon Communion in southern Caelid. Ride along the road to the location, and you will undoubtedly come across Decaying Ekzykes.
- Flying Dragon Greyll- Flying Dragon Greyll can be found near the Farum Greatbridge located south of the Bestial Sanctum Site of Grace in northern Caelid. This bridge links up north and south Dragonbarrow.
- Elder Dragon Greyoll- Greyoll is located in Fort Faroth in northeastern Caelid. Following the road to the east out of Dragonbarrow West Site of Grace will lead you to the Fort Faroth.
Greyoll is surrounded by 5 smaller dragons that need to be killed to reach Greyoll. Once defeated, it drops 5 Dragon Hearts.
- Magma Wyrm- This Magma Wyrm is at the end of the Gael Tunnel located in the northwestern Caelid, right on the border of Caelid and Limgrave.
4. Mountaintops of the Giants Dragon Hearts Location
Borealis The Freezing Fog- Borealis is in a large frozen lake situated in the northeastern region of the Mountaintops of the Giants, near the Freezing Lake Site of Grace. Just jump onto the frozen lake and look around to find this mighty dragon.
- Great Wyrm Theodorix- Theodrix is located in a secret area north of Albinauric Rise. It is near the frozen stream branching out to the west out of the large frozen lake in Mountaintops of the Giants. The closest Sites of Grace to this location are Ancient Snow Valley Ruins and Cave of the Forlorn.
5. Mt. Gelmir Dragon Hearts Location
- Magma Drake Boss- This Wyrm can be in the Lava Lake beside Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace at Mt. Gelmir. It can be found by going to the west right after reaching the Guest Hall Site of Grace in the western Altus Plateau region.
- Magma Wyrm- This Wyrm can be found extremely close to the previous location as well. It is located in the Volcano Manor to the south of the Grace of Site of the same name, right in the middle of the Guest Hall and Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace of Mt. Gelmir in the western Altus Plateau region.
6. What are Dragon Hearts used for in Elden Ring?
Dragon Hearts are used to learn powerful dragon-based incantations in Elden Ring. Take the Dragon Heart to the altar in the Church of Dragon Communion, located on a small island off the western coast of Limgrave, and consume it to learn new spells.
Once you defeat your first dragon, Agheel, the Bloody Finger Hunter Yura will explain to you how to use its heart. There are two Church of Dragon Communion in the game. As stated above, the one is located in Limgrave, while the other is in Caelid, right next to the area where you face off Decaying Ekzykes.
7. About Elden Ring
Elden Ring is a major title released by FromSoftware in 2022, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and the Dark Souls franchise. Set in the ‘Lands Between’, players are on a quest to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
Shadow of the Erdtree is a full-fledged expansion for Elden Ring added in June 2024. It is a whole new map with new Weapons, Sorceries, Ashes, and Craftables. It is a challenging DLC and as players continue to explore the map, they find surprises and easter eggs left by the developers every day.
