A second season of Alex Rider has already been issued, even before it’s American premiere. Filming for the second season was supposed to begin in the latter half of 2020, but the schedule has been shifted to next year due to the pandemic. The production begins in Bristol, England, in late January. The UK series, which debuted as a Prime Video UK original in June, is set to release on IMDb TV this month.
Further, it has been revealed that production for season two will take about 22 weeks, so the fans can expect a new season late next year.
Alex Rider centers on the titular character, a teen recruited by a special branch of the MI6 to undertake missions that are tailored to his age. In the first season, Alex, who is just a regular teen, finds out that his uncle has been killed on a mission for British intelligence. He is approached by a man from a secret branch of the MI6, who reveals that Alex was trained to be a spy from his childhood.
Forced to investigate his uncle’s death and its connection to the death of two billionaires, Alex becomes a spy and goes to a boarding school for billionaires’ kids. There he makes a mind-boggling discovery.
The tv show is based on a series of books by the same name, written by Anthony Horowitz. To date, thirteen novels and six graphic novels have been written about the character who is like ‘a teenage James Bond.’ The first season is an adaptation of the first two novels- Stormbreaker and Point Blanc.
Alex Rider had previously been adapted onscreen in a 2006 film starring Alex Pettyfer. Both fans and critics have said that the 2020 tv series is a superior creation, with the cast doing an admirable job in bringing the story to life and making it suitable for the present audience. Honestly, the movie does not compare.
The tv series stars Otto Farrant as Alex Rider. The young actor is the winning performer and the main attraction of the series. Stephen Dillane and Vicky McClure also star in the show.
Alex Rider premieres on IMDb TV on November 13th, 2020.
