Burdensome troubles often accompany new hardware, and one of Intel’s most capable products is no different. Despite being very capable and proven, Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs faced significant compatibility issues with DRM, which rendered a whopping 50 games unplayable on Windows.
This teething issue caused a major disappointment among Intel users. The company was quick to notice and started working on a fix immediately. Consequently, back in December, Intel managed to narrow a massive list of 50 games down to just three.
But given that the remaining games were Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Fernbus Simulator, and Madden 22, Intel’s job was far from done. These titles are played by millions across the globe, and a resolution had to be worked upon quickly to ensure the gamers won’t run away from the new CPU.
Thankfully now, the tech giants can finally give themselves a pat on the back as the DRM woes have perished for once and all.
Through their official website, Intel revealed that it worked alongside Microsoft to fix games that were affected by DRM software and rendered unplayable when played on the Alder Lake processor. As a result, the CPU is now free from any compatibility issue that tormented it at launch.
Intel has resolved the DRM issue on 12th Gen intel® Core™ Processors that caused games to crash or not load in Windows 11* and/or Windows® 10 by working with game publishers and Microsoft. At this time, all games originally identified as having this DRM issue have been fixed through game patches or OS updates.

Furthermore, Intel credited OS updates and game patches for their help in rectifying this issue and suggested users to ensure that the latest versions of Windows 10 and 11 are installed so that no crashes are experienced any more.
