2023 is set to be one of the biggest years in terms of video game releases, including the sequel to the classic horror survival game– Alan Wake 2. Amidst other major releases like Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it looks like there has been a change in plans by Remedy Entertainment.
Developer Remedy Entertainment announced that the studio is delaying the release of Alan Wake 2 by 10 days. The game will now be launching on October 27th instead of October 17th as previously announced.
According to the studio, the reason behind this change is to allow gamers to enjoy their favorite games. The new launch date avoids a clash with some other AAA titles. However, Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in the same week as Alan Wake 2.
There was some heavy controversy recently after it was announced that Alan Wake 2 will only be available digitally. Apparently, it was done in order to give the team more time to work on the game. Without a physical disc, developers could polish the game until it is finally released.
Exactly how effective the date change will be for Alan Wake 2 remains to be seen. It is also highly possible that the horror game gets overshadowed by other highly anticipated titles. However, given the long-standing hype surrounding it, Alan Wake 2 is expected to perform well.
October is going to be a very busy month with back-to-back releases lined up. Ubisoft recently announced that their upcoming title Assassin’s Creed Mirage would be released a week earlier. Looks like Alan Wake 2 is not the only one switching up their schedule.
