Akame ga Kill Filler Guide: Are the Fillers Necessary to Watch?

Akame ga Kill is filled with death surrounding political corruption, so the fillers tend to take a back seat in the show. Not.

The show ends with 24 episodes and a total of 5 reported fillers, bringing the filler percentage to a moderate 21%.

The fillers are thrilling and desolate, to say the least, with few of the lead characters dying encased in ice and the hated Honest being killed in a very different manner than in the manga.

However, to all those anime-only fans, these fillers bring the anime to an original conclusive end. And since the manga is available for later reading, you must check out this canon divergent ending!

2. Which Fillers Can You Skip Altogether?

Akame ga Kill is a story that is philosophically very challenging. However, the plot takes on a major 180° in the fillers and completely change the world of the show.

Akame ga Kill is pretty similar to the Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) series in that aspect.

Their last few episodes were scheduled to be aired before the manga could catch up and, as a consequence, drastically changed the entire show’s ending.

So, to those fans who want to have a complete canon experience, you should skip the following filler episodes:

  • Kill the Despair (21)
  • Kill the Little Sister (22)
  • Kill the Emperor (23)
  • Akame ga Kill! (24)

And then continue to read Chapter 39 in the Akame ga Kill manga, where the canon portion of the anime left off.

3. About Akame ga Kill

Akame ga Kill is based on a 2010 Japanese manga written by Takahiro and illustrated by Tetsuya Tashiro. It has published 15 complete tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Tatsumi, a young swordsman, who travels to the Imperial City with his two friends to earn money, but all is not what it seems.
