Episode 40 of the Ahiru no Sora anime, titled “Stop and Go.” It will be released on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

3. Recap of Previous Episode 39

I. Taiei High’s Another Level Practice

Episode 39, titled “Fight for Rock Fight for Life” begins with Mokichi’s teammate asking him for advice on his role in the team with a strong desire to be useful for their team, as a center he replies personally he’d like the team to have one more outside player.

The next scene takes us to the ongoing match between Shinmaru High and Taiei High, with Taiei leading with 20 to 17.

Taiei’s coach discusses the improvement he could see in Shinmaru’s players, they’ve got solid range game, even comments they have the potential to make it to the nationals.

Sora, Nanao, and their seniors observing the game from the benches are clear about which team owns the game.

Nanao still can’t figure out why a strong team like Taiei wants to have a practice match with their team, to which Takahashi and Kojima explain about the rumors they heard, that the group aims to complete 300 games every year and never go easy by sending rookies.

They realize the upcoming practice match is going to be difficult.

II. The Stoic Player

The match continues, and Chiba permits Tokiwa to play; however, he wants from now. He shows his monstrous skills with a fastball and does a fake while passing the ball below his opponents and in the hoop!

Chiba does the first dunk in the game, gaining loud cheers from the audience. Maru High succeeds in scoring points and closing the gap. Taiei changes the player, and Sei Shiraishi is sent to the court.

The all-rounder player proves his worth by scoring more points and even doing a dunk. The stunned audience enquires about the details of this stoic new player.

Nonetheless, Tokiwa gets on defense against Shiraishi and stops his goal, the battle between the aces of the two teams continues.

III. Taiei’s Hidden Card

The coach sends another player in, who causes the stadium to go silent because everyone is aware of the player with the unprecedented caliber of Taiei.

He lives up to that image because the game soon turns into Taiei’s favor after he starts playing. Sora is surprised to know Fuwa Hyo is still a freshman like him but with skills way off the charts.

Chiba encourages his team to keep giving their best until the end, but Taiei High wins it. After the match, Chiba is stopped by a university recruiter.

Still, Takahashi and Kojima refuse the offer on his behalf; they want him to go to Seishu University and continue playing basketball together.

As Nanao and Sora leave, he narrates how their team is no less than Taiei and points out all the members’ skills. The other members who also came to oversee this game gained strength to work hard after hearing Sora’s expectations.

Ahiru no Sora, also known as “Sky of the Duck” or “Sora the Duck,” is a Japanese basketball manga series written and illustrated by Takeshi Hinata.

It started serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2003. The first volume was released on May 17, 2004, and as of September 2019, fifty volumes have been published in Japan by Kodansha.

An anime television series adaptation by Diomedéa premiered on October 2, 2019 and is still ongoing.

Sora Kurumatani made a promise to his mother, “I will dominate my first high school tournament.”

But as he joins the basketball club after entering Kuzuryū High School, he finds out that it has become a stomping ground for delinquents.
