I. The Girls’ Basketball Club

Episode 38, titled “Fight for Rock for Life,” begins with the girl’s team practicing basketball as usual in the basketball court. Madoka strangely feels she has been off her game today.

In their locker room while changing she and Yoko discuss how everyone on the team has been feeling sloppy after the seniors left and then reminisce about them and support each other.

Madoka drops by the karaoke where Tama invited her and after some time learns that boys from other school have also been invited. Feeling uncomfortable about this she hurriedly leaves before everyone.

II. The Lost Earring

At the train station Madoka realizes she lost the earing which she received from her sister before marriage and anxiously searches for it all along the way between the train station and the karaoke. She runs into the guys from before and they decide to help her find it in the heavy rains.

Finally finding the earing at the train station with their help, Madoka clears her mind about misunderstanding them on their first impression and they end up exchanging numbers.

III. The Boys’ Basketball Club

On the other hand, the Boys’ basketball club plays rock, paper, scissors in front of the vending machine to pick the juices for themselves and their manager informs them about practice at the city gym.

They discuss their strong opponent in the next practice match and how they dominated the Kanto tournament. Trying not to lose hope they keep practicing.

The next day while heading to Hiratsuka General Gym, Sora and their manager run into Takahashi and Kojima from Shinjotawa High who are also on their way there to support their friend Chiba. Chiba tells Sora to watch their game intently as he and his team will show him the spirit of basketball.

Ahiru no Sora also known as “Sky of the Duck” or “Sora the Duck” is a Japanese basketball manga series written and illustrated by Takeshi Hinata. It started serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2003. The first volume was released on May 17, 2004, and as of September 2019, fifty volumes have been released in Japan by Kodansha. An anime television series adaptation by Diomedéa premiered on October 2, 2019 and is still on going. Sora Kurumatani made a promise to his mother, “I will dominate my first high school tournament.”
