Adult Swim Festival 2021 revealed exciting information, including the Season 6 release confirmation for Rick and Morty.
Among their other animated releases, they also revealed that the comic sci-fi adventure series would drop sometime next year, although they did not state the release date or season. Rick and Morty Season 5 wrapped up only a couple of months ago, in September. Having a release date confirmation for another set of weird, horrific, and humorous intergalactic adventures is just the cherry on top.
Due to the pandemic, fans had to wait longer than usual for the new season. Season 4 wrapped up in May 2020, and the pandemic stretched the Season 5 premiere to June 2021. However, the upcoming Season 6 had been announced before the fifth installment of the series.
Coming to the expectations from Rick and Morty Season 6, it’s challenging to place down any. The studios and creators have been tight-lipped about the premise.
Season 5 left viewers with the return of Evil Morty and Rick with no portal gun. It also showed the breakup and post-breakup phase of Rick and Morty, once again showing that the grandfather-grandson duo can’t stay away from each other for too long. Arguably, Season 5 was also the only season to pack multiple emotional scenes.
Season 6 also has a lot to explore. The previous season opened multiverses, establishing new realms and new threats. With the lead characters’ relationship intact, it will be exciting to see where the duo will end up in the upcoming season. The studio also gave no update regarding the number of episodes.
That’s not all, though. Scripts for Rick and Morty Season 7 are also over. Writer Cody Ziglar took to Twitter in August this year to announce the celebration with multiple team screenshots.
Back in 2018, Adult Swim had announced a 70-episode renewal for Rick and Morty. The renewal means more intergalactic fun, nihilistic humor, alcohol, and cynical advice.
