So far, Acer has only launched two desktop graphics cards for the custom retail market– the A770 Predator BiFrost (16 GB) and A380 Predator, both based on Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs. According to the latest report, Acer has plans to expand their horizons beyond Intel.
Acer is all set to begin its discrete graphics cards business with their Predator series.
The company has laid the groundwork to kick start their production lines to manufacture AMD GPUs. Although which specific models will be chosen for this venture are still not revealed, these cards will be hitting the markets in 2023.
Acer is a leading name in the gaming industry which is known for its graphics cards for pre-built systems. One can assume that establishing a strong hold over the DIY market will take a while.
The GPU market has seen some rocky times over the course of the last few years. Right now, all sales are in stagnation and high-end cards by the top makers, which were predicted to sell out, are in stock.
It would be wise for Acer to target the mid-range segment first with models like the Radeon RX 7800/7700 series. The company is reportedly not interested in NVIDIA GPUs currently. Gigabyte is the only one who has launched GPUs from AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel.
