The task of offering three European Pond Turtles can be taken by you in the Melunois region of France in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Siege of Paris DLC.
Anyone who is exploring this region may have come across the mysterious Sarclitas shrine and its offering altar. If not, you can find this shrine in the northwest of your French settlement.
Refer to the image below for the exact location of the shrine.
At this location, upon interacting with the shrine, you will be asked to offer 3 x regular European Pond Turtles.
Note: The size of the turtles to be offered should be regular.
Some players may find locating and catching these mischievous amphibians troublesome, but it is a relatively simple hunt. Here is a guide to help you out in locating and capturing the European Pond Turtles.
Where To Find The European Pond Turtles In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?
Luckily, there is a small pond really close to the north of Sarclitas Offering Altar where you can find these turtles.
You can refer to the image below for the exact location of this pond
Open your map, mark the pond, and head to this location to capture the creatures.
To get to this pond, you will have to travel by the road emerging north of the Sarclitas shrine. After a short interval, this road will gradually start bending in the eastern direction, and you will find the pond right next to this bend.
How To Hunt The European Pond Turtles In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Once you reach the location, use Odin’s sight to locate the Turtles swimming in the pond.
Now, there are three standard methods to catch the turtles:
- By hunting them with melee weapons, like a sword, spear, axe, etc.
- By shooting them with ranged weapons like bow and arrow, or
- By using a fishing line
Using a sword, an axe, or any melee weapon, in general, is the least effective method of catching the turtles because your speed will slow down in the pond, and the turtles are speedy swimmers.
So, if you are good at aiming, you can hunt the turtles using your bow and arrow, which is a quicker and more practical method than jumping in the pond and attacking the turtles with a sword.
Another efficient method of catching the turtles is to use your fishing line. Use Odin’s sight to locate the turtles and then cast the fishing line on their positions to capture them.
How To Get A Fishing Line And Use It To Catch The European Pond Turtles?
A fishing line will be available to you in the fishing hut, which can be unlocked once your Assassin’s Creed Valhalla settlement has reached level 2. Building the fishing hut will cost you 600 supplies and 45 raw materials.
Fishing is a fairly entertaining and relaxing task. Locate the turtles in the pond using Odin’s sight. Equip the fishing line from the action wheel, right-click to aim where you want to throw the line, and then left-click to cast it.
You will then be able to spot the turtle approaching to bite the line by its reflection in the water. Wait for it to grab the line then control it by using the WASD keys while mashing the spacebar to pull it closer.
TIP: Control the fishing line in the same direction the turtle is swimming, or else the line will break.
What Will You Get By Offering The Turtles To The Shrine?
Once you catch the turtle, there will be a small pop-up on the right side of your screen telling you the type and size of the turtles caught. The European Pond Turtles come in three sizes: small, regular, and big. Catch 3 of the regular size ones.
The Sarclitas shrine is one of the several mysteries offered by the Melunois region in The Siege of Paris. By submitting the Turtles to the Altar as a tribute, you will receive a single skill point and the satisfaction of solving a fun mystery.
