As Assassin’s Creed moves from a pure stealth game to an open-world RPG, building a character for your playstyle is quite important.
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you play as Eivor as you tear through Europe in search of a new home. The thing with AC Valhalla is that long gone are the days when you only needed to be a silent assassin. The Eivor of Valhalla can do pretty much anything you want him to do. Maybe you play as the tank, or perhaps you like to be the forward scout. No matter your gameplay style, AC Valhalla has got you covered.
I’ve compiled this list of the best builds in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that should fit in with your varying playstyle.
1. The Tank/ Bear Build
Want to be the first one to go in, handle multiple enemies at once? If you are the wall that can take anyone on, then the tank build in AC Valhalla is for you.
I. Weapons
If you want to be the tank, you will need the beefiest weapons that do heavy damage while not being too slow. Either the Iron Star (Fine Flail) or Skadi’s Wrath (Fine Light Bow) will do the job. I personally go with the Superior Long Sword (Carolingian Longsword) under the bear weapons because I like fighting with Valhalla’s swords.
II. Armor
Thegn’s Heavy Tunic and the full set should be your go-to choice as it provides adequate damage protection even though it is quite heavy in comparison. Thor’s set is pretty endgame specific which is why it’s not on the build.
III. Skills
The skill tree is laid out for you to get the Tank/Bear skills for Eivor. Remember, your main goal is to use sheer force when attacking; you don’t care about springing a trap or using the element of surprise.
- To take out a large group of enemies at once, use Stomp.
- Save your adrenaline bar by equipping Berserker’s Mettle; you will keep your wits and momentum about you.
- Warrior Takedowns will be your friend to refill that adrenaline bar quickly.
- If you are good at parrying, then quip Parry Damage as it will decrease the health of the enemies you successfully parry.
- Adrenaline Fiend is only useful if you are a sensei and never get hit in a fight. At the same time when your adrenaline bar fills up, your attack speed and damage increase too.
2. The Scout/Recon/Wolf Build
Going all guns blazing or, in this case, all swords blazing is not everyone’s style. Some are more focused on gathering intel before going in. This build utilizes the ability to recon and strategize beforehand.
I. Weapons
Being the scout, you want agile weapons that can also get you out of hairy situations. My choice for this build would be the Fine Dane Axe or the Housecarl’s Axe. They are not even that hard to acquire at the early stages of the storyline.
II. Armor
The Huntsman Armor Set is the one to get as it will indefinitely boost your scouting abilities. The armor set’s hidden bonus is the reason that makes it so indispensable:
- Armor Set Bonus (2 pieces of Gear): Increased Ranged Damage when damaging enemies from 20 meters of distance.
- Armor Set Bonus (5 pieces of Gear): Increased Speed.
That and the fact the armor can easily be found just as you start your journey in Europe.
III. Skills
The Wolf section’s skills to look out for are the ones that increase your speed and vitality.
- Assassination Attack Training to get high damage output when executing stealth kills.
- Save your adrenaline bar by equipping Berserker’s Mettle; you will keep your wits and momentum about you.
- Critical Range Precision Training with Headshot Training and Range Attack will make you the most dangerous bowman out there.
- If ranged warfare is not your only strong suit and you want to switch up between melee attacks and ranged fights, you definitely need Bow to Melee Link.
3. The Assassin/Raven Build
Coming to the real Assassin’s Creed build, we do things in full stealth. Get in, do the job, and get out, all in all without anyone noticing. Get this build if you want to leave as few witnesses as possible.
I. Weapons
The assassin is supposed to eliminate his mark and get out but should always be prepared when things go south. My choice for this build is to go with the Yngling Seax (Dagger), a spear like the Fyrd Spear, and the War Hammer as the last resort when all hell breaks loose.
II. Armor
The Raven Armor Set combined with the recommended weapon choices is a deadly stealth combo. In particular, the set bonus offers additional health that can be a total lifesaver and critical chance bonuses.
- Armor Set Bonus (2 pieces of gear): Armor increases if your health decreases.
- Armor Set Bonus (5 pieces of gear): Additional increase to Critical Chance.
III. Skills
The Raven section has many skills, but picking the right ones will be the difference between being a dead or an alive assassin.
- Advanced Assassin is the top priority if you want to go after high-level targets.
- Brush with Death to get those well times to dodge and deal precise damages in return.
- Breakfall to avoid fall deaths as you perform a cool roll instead.
- Missile Reversal is my personal favourite effect as it makes you look like a total badass. Catch and throw projectiles back at your enemies!
4. The Ultimate Build
You don’t want to bother with different play styles; you just want the best build out there. The Ultimate Build will strike fear in your enemy’s heart; they will tremble and fall as they lay eyes on you. Get this build to ascend from the mortal plane and take your place among the gods.
I. Weapons
Take the Predator Bow for ranged attacks; even though its fire rate is not that high, it is ideal for taking out single high-value targets. Just remember to upgrade your quiver.
There should not be any doubt about the choice of the longsword, Excalibur, on any given day! The mythical sword will blind enemies after performing heavy finishers and criticals, making it one of Valhalla’s best weapons.
As we are gearing up with weapons from all eras of mystery and myths, let’s complete the set with the fabled Mjolnir! Even though it is quite hard to find but believe me, you don’t want to miss the Norse God’s thundering hammer.
II. Armor
Thor’s Armor Set has got you covered, the most sought after set in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Arguably the most challenging set to find, it also solidifies its place in the ultimate build. Don the full set to get its added benefits of stunning your enemies. Combine this with heavy melee weapons such as the Excalibur, and you will be unstoppable.
III. Skills
- Stomp: Makes an appearance once again just because it’s that useful. What’s better than to put your enemies into the same ground from where they rose.
- Brush With Death: To gain the heightened senses to dodge and time your attacks.
- Adrenaline Fiend: Equip this and gain damage & attack speed boosts at pretty much no extra cost.
- Chain Assassination: Use this and easily convert stealth kills into double stealth kills.
- Missile Reversal: What’s better than to catch projectiles and throw them back to inflict fear in your enemy’s heart?
