Closing the Vault is a quest in AC Valhalla that will make you put on your detective glasses to identify the Vault. Like most other quests of the game, you will have to conclude the quest by making a moral decision. If you are stuck and need help going forward, our guide has got your back.
Closing the Vault takes place in the Jorvik region (Suggested Power: 190). It will be unlocked after you’ve finished ‘Burning the Firebrand’ and ‘Pricking the Needle’. Here, you will have to identify and kill the Vault from four possible suspects.
The mission will end with a moral decision. You will have to contemplate who deserves the recovered silver: the Halfdan’s war or the robbed merchants.
1. Silver Choice – Give It to the Merchants or the Halfdans?
After you have assassinated the Vault, meet Ljufvina and Hjorr at the docks. They’ll tell you to meet them at the Royal Hall to regroup.
Here, interact with Ricsige and make a decision that incorporates virtue.
The silver that the Vault and The Needle have been collecting can be given either to the merchants or used to fund the Halfdan’s war. The best choice here is to give the silver to the merchants as it was stolen from them, and the Needle cheated them.
Returning the Silver to merchants will have no impact on the story. It is just a decision you should make if you believe in a world where justice should prevail.
However, if you use the silver to support the Halfdans, you will never be able to find out if your generous donation actually helped.
Therefore, it’s a better decision to be noble at least than never knowing if your funding actually did its job or not.
In order to get to the point of making the silver decision, you need to complete the initial part of the quest. Here’s how you can start Closing the Vault:
2. Reaching the Starting Location
To start Closing the Vault quest in AC Valhalla, go to the Royal Hall in Jorvik and interact with Ljufvina.
3. Investigating the Archive
After talking to Ljufvina, she will lead you to the archives. Here, utilize your Odin’s Sight to the fullest and look for the clues. The clue to look for in the archive is a table found in the room’s back upon which lies a note. The note will help you reach a hidden room filled with wine.
Note – To enter the hidden room, break its door.
Now, a cutscene will follow, and you will have to go to the Yuletide feast.
4. Going to the Yuletide Festival
Players will now have to go to Jorvik Theatre and interact with Ljufvina. From this moment onwards, put on your detective glasses as you will have to identify the Vault.
5. The Vault Decision: Who is the Vault?
To reveal who the Vault is, you will have to investigate four possible suspects: Ricsige, Faravid, Audun, and Hjorr.
Interact with each one of the accused, and you will get to know that Aundun is the Vault. This is because he is the only one who’s aware that wine isn’t at the feast yet and is unwilling to drink it. Who’d drink a poisoned wine after all?
All such points indicate that Aundun is the one you should point your fingers at.
Although if you are not the one for justice, you can blame anyone. To accuse someone, go to Ljufvina and interact with her.
A cutscene will start playing right after you have accused Aundun or anyone. Now, all you have to do is kill the suspect. Remember that it is necessary to confirm the kill.
From here, it’s up to you to decide who deserves the silver, the Halfdans or the Merchants?
