Opal is a valuable and scarce currency in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which can be used to buy some exclusive exotic items in the game from Reda’s shop only. Reda, a vital NPC, will appear with his Thousand Eyes shop in your settlement only after you have completed the “Heavy is the head” quest.
You can use the Opals to buy different items like tattoos, decorations, cosmetics, and even some mythical weapons from his shop.
You can identify the Opals and Reda’s shop from a unique cross-knotted mark, as shown below.
Opals are the rarest materials in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. They cannot be bought in-game or through Ubisoft store with real world currency. Opals need to be earned in-game by completing various side-missions and collection activities.
How to get Opals in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?
There are three methods to obtain the Opals in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla:
- Complete the daily contracts provided by Reda and his associates.
- Complete the time-limited weekly challenges on Ubisoft connect platform.
- Locate and collect the Opals spread across the vast in-game world of AC Valhalla.
1. Complete The Daily Contracts Provided By Reda And His Associates
Completing contracts is the primary method to obtain opals. After your first conversation with Reda, you will be given 50 opals which you can either spend right away or save for future items that might become available in his shop.
The particular contracts that reward you Opal can only be received from Reda or his associates of The Thousand Eyes network and will be available to you right after he appears in your settlement.
To receive a contract, approach Reda and select the second option, which reads as “I want a contract.”
However, you can receive only a few contracts each day. These contracts are time-bound, which means they must be completed within the given time frame.
Contracts are marked on the map with a question mark icon in green or grey colors.
The Daily contracts generally reward you with 5 opals, whereas the weekly contracts will provide you 20 opals.
The objectives of these contracts vary from assassinating some targets to other non-combatant stuff. You can be sent to various locations throughout the map to assassinate a target, so make sure that you satisfy a region’s suggested power level criteria before venturing into any dangerous territory.
If you are tasked with assassinating a target, do not forget to confirm the kill in order to complete the contract and receive the opals.
NOTE: Make sure you are connected to the Internet to access the contracts and the Opals
2. Complete The Time-Limited Weekly Challenges On Ubisoft Connect Platform.
You can find the weekly time-limited challenges on the Ubisoft Connect platform. Completing these challenges will reward you with 5 to 10 Opals along with 25-50 XP. The weekly challenges are incredibly straightforward and do not require much trouble to be completed.
Once you complete a weekly time-limited challenge, make sure to open Ubisoft Connect in-game overlay menu to claim your rewards manually.
3. Locating The Opals Spread Across The Vast In-Game World Of AC Valhalla.
Opals are scattered throughout the vast world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and every region is stacked up with dozens of Opals lying in the open. All you have to do is locate one and pick it up.
You must be wondering that it sounds simple enough. What’s the catch? Well, the problem is that you cannot locate or identify the Opals through your map. The only way to find an Opal is by coming across one while you are exploring the regions. Use Odin’s sight, and the Opals will be highlighted for you to pick them up. Unfortunately, finding Opals like this is not an efficient method at all.
Pro Tips on Quickly Hunting & Collecting Opals:
1. Using Raven To Spot the Opals
Evior’s Raven has a better field of vision of the land, use it to spot the Opals in the region. You will be able to see them from the perspective of Raven; just click on the Opal icon to mark them.
Once you mark the Opals like this, they will appear on your map. Go ahead and collect them.
2. Buy The Opal Map For Easy Access To Opal’s Location
If you desperately want to collect Opals in the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla world, you can choose to spend 350 Helix credits and buy the Opal Map.
Opal Map will reveal the location of all the Opals available in the game world for you to pick up. This will save you a lot of time, and you won’t have to wander aimlessly to find these materials.

After buying the map, just head to the locations marked with the Opal icon and pick the precious currency up.
