AC Valhalla Dag Choice: Should You Kill Dag?

After defeating Dag in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll have yet another choice to make. Dag can either die with his axe or be forever shunned without it.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is, in essence, a story-driven RPG that encompasses choice-based gameplay at its core. As Eivor, we are tasked with many story-altering choices during the main storyline. The Dag Choice is no different. Allowing him to die alongside his axe will result in a greater turn of events.

1. Should You Kill Dag in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

During the Ravensthorpe Arc, Dag will confront you with a fight during the ‘A Brewing Storm’ quest, saying how he’s put up with your actions for far too long, and it is time to settle the score.

No matter what dialogues you choose in AC Valhalla: A Brewing Storm, Dag will fight you in a duel, and Dag’s death cannot be prevented.

Taking on Dag in the Duel

What makes it better is that this is not the quest’s climactic point, there is another important choice to come.

2. What to Do in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Dag Choice?

I will be honest; Dag was never someone I liked. From the start, he has been bickering with us and trying to undermine Eivor whenever possible. When we finally had enough, and the boss fight came up with Dag, I was happy to see his character go. After the battle, you’ll be prompted with yet another choice.

The Dag Choice after He is Defeated

As Eivor defeats Dag, we can either let him die with his axe to enter Valhalla or deny him, forcing his soul into exile.

  • Giving Dag the axe: This will allow Dag to reach Valhalla.
  • Denying Dag the axe:  Refusal of the axe goes against the Viking standards and is a big blow for Dag, forcing him to Helheim.

This choice is one factor that alters Sigurd’s decision in the ending. Thus, picking the right choice is crucial.

3. What Happens if You Deny Dag the Axe in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

For one, Dag will not be able to attain his place in Valhalla because dying without your weapon by your side goes against the Viking warrior code.

Denying the Axe to Dag

Denying the axe to Dag after defeating him will make Sigurd unhappy, and it will be one of the factors that affect the Sigurd ending.

I think giving Dag his axe back is the way to go because even though Dag was an immense pain from the start, he was still a Viking warrior. And no warrior should die shamefully against their own code.
