Hunting Down the Adze of the Order of Ancient in AC Valhalla – Guide

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s standard game mechanics provide you with the repeating behavior of quests. You have to find clues to the identity and location of a traitor or order member and assassinate them. One of the significant orders which keeps popping up is the Order of the Ancient. 

Throughout the game course, you have to identify the members of this Order and take them down. The Adze, also known as Gunilla, is another member of this Order, whom you need to assassinate.

Here is a guide to obtaining the three clues to her location and identity. This mission is relatively an easy one as the clues are not difficult to find and there are not many guards and enemies to fight throughout this hunt.

1. Where to Find the First Clue?

The first clue will be automatically available on the Order tab once you defeat The Dart of the Order of the Ancient or the Zealot Cola. 

You can find Cola in the Southeaster corner of Eurviscire. The suggested power level to kill Cola is 90. Be careful while approaching the Zealot as he is a strong opponent and it may take some time to take him down.

This first clue will lead you to the second clue, which can be found in the Roman ruins of Ledecestre. Refer to the image below for the exact location.

2. Win the Drinking Challenge to Receive Second Clue

At the northeast of the synchronization point within Ledecestre town, you will find a man to whom you have to speak.

This man is the drinking champion, and you have to defeat this man in a drinking challenge to obtain the second clue. 

Again, the clue will be available on the Order tab and send you to a watermill located south of Tonnastadir hamlet, also situated in Ledecestrescire.

3. Finding the Third Clue in Cweornric Village

The watermill is located in a small village called Cweornric, which is situated south of Tonnastadir hamlet.

However, you do not have to head inside the watermill. Instead, move around it and find a house to the left of a tower with a red roof.

Head inside this house, you will find the third clue lying on a pile of carpets.

Be on your guard as you might find several enemies inside this house.

4. Finding and Assassinating Adze

After receiving your third clue, it will reveal to you that Adze is a woman who also goes by the name of Gunilla. This information will be available on the Order tab.  

Adze’s location can be marked on the docks at Repton, Ledecestrescire. 

She is sitting alone at this location, and no guards are present to defend her, so casually approach and assassinate her stealthily.

Don’t forget to confirm the kill to complete the assassination.

5. Is it Possible to Kill an Order Member Without Finding All the Clues?

If you think collecting all the clues takes so much of your time, then there is no need to do so.

The lower-level members of the Order can be killed without finding all the clues. In fact, you don’t even need to know who you are looking for in order to eliminate that lower-level member. They will be present at their known location all the time or can be found wandering around the cities.

You can find and Assassinate Adze without separately finding all the clues; just go to the docks at Repton, Ledecestrescire, Use Odin’s Sight to highlight her in red, and assassinate her with ease as no one is guarding her. You will be rewarded 900 XP for killing the Adze.

6. Who is The Adze/Gunilla of the Order of the Ancient?

The game provides very little detail of the Adze. It tells us that she was a dutiful daughter in her family and helped build ships with her uncles and cousins. Waves of pestilence devastated her family.

One passing noblewoman introduced her to the members of the Order of the Ancient. She now plays the role of the Warden of Law within the Orde. After joining the order, she started overseeing the naval operations and shipbuilding for the order.
