ABC renewed Abbott Elementary for a second season, consisting of 22 episodes, after the first season received great acclaim among audiences and critics. The mockumentary sitcom is currently airing season 2 with eight episodes down, but another hiatus looms over the show.
The series stars an ensemble cast, including Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis. Season 2 premiered in September 2022 with regular weekly episodes till November 2, and then the series went on a short break.
Season 2 returns with episode 8, titled “Egg Drop,” today on November 16, 2022, after the last episode saw an ad dissing the elementary school and Janine weighing her relationship with Tariq.
The show will continue with weekly episodes throughout the remainder of November 2022 into the first week of December. The second season will take a long hiatus after its mid-season finale, episode 10, airs on ABC, only to return a month later with new weekly episodes.
But if you thought this was the end of the hiatus list, you’re gravely mistaken, dear reader!
The month-long hiatus ends on January 4, 2022, when the show returns with episode 11 and crosses its mid-way mark. But after episode 13, the remaining nine episodes have no confirmed release dates, which means there’s yet another break waiting in the wings.
We’re still determining when Abbott Elementary will return after the hiatus, as mentioned above, and we aren’t sure if it will be as long as two weeks or a whole month. But we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
For now, all you need to know is season 2 is back with new episodes this Wednesday, November 16, 2022, and will continue with weekly episodes till December 7, 2022. So go catch up with Janine and the rest of her gang on ABC!
