Unbound is the next installment in the Need for Speed franchise. The trailer features a unique anime-like art style and hip-hop aesthetics. One of the main characters is rumored to be a big name in the music and fashion industry.
Owing to an unexpected leak, some got a hint of what to expect a little earlier than EA intended. However, the grand reveal and artistic trailer were enough to hype up awaiting fans of the franchise.
Electronic Arts released the official trailer for Need for Speed Unbound, which releases on December 2.
Need for Speed Unbound is set in the fictional Lakeshore City, where the player’s ultimate goal will be to win “The Grand,” the city’s signature street race.
The trailer also features the famous rapper A$AP Rocky, who collaborated with French composer and producer Brodinski for the game’s OST. Players can also race against Rocky in a brand-new event, after which they may be given access to his ride for a limited time.
According to the Need for Speed website, players can place side-bets with their earnings against rival racers. The money can also be used for vehicle mods, upgrades, special driving effects, character customizations, and more.
From the looks of the trailer, character outfits are definitely given priority. You can access branded clothes and shoes from officially licensed deals with various fashion labels. The official announcement on Twitter tagged Marine Serre and Vans for A$AP Rocky’s outfit, implying these brands will be included in the game.
Reportedly, Need for Speed Unbound will be released for new consoles, PC, and EA Play, for about $70. For pre-order owners, the game will also have bonuses of $150,000 in-game currency initially, exclusive driving effects, decals, license plates, banner artwork, and stickers.
Electronic Arts and Criterion Games have confirmed that Need for Speed Unbound will have a free trial for EA Play and certain Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The trial will go live on November 29, giving players three days to avail the most out of the allowed 10 hours of gameplay time.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get a 10% discount on all Electronic Arts games. This also applies to Unbound, bringing down its price to $63.
A Need for Speed Unbound Palace Edition will also be available for $80, which is in partnership with Palace Skateboards. It will give players exclusive content and early access to the game along with EA Play Members.
Need for Speed Unbound releases on December 2, 2022, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Need for Speed: Unbound is an upcoming game in the Need for Speed series with a December 2, 2022 release date, following a revision from an expected September to October release.
Following its first official reveal in June 2020, it is being developed by Criterion and is described as to “include a new Need for Speed game that is bringing some astounding visual leaps, developed by the Criterion team, who have launched some of the most highly-rated games in franchise history”. Alongside Criterion, Codemasters Cheshire is assisting in development of the game and the Need for Speed series as a whole.
