A24 released a new trailer for their upcoming military drama, The Inspection, starring Jeremy Pope and Gabrielle Union.
The film, directed by Elegance Bratton, is based on a personal story. The film follows the journey of Ellis French, a young gay Black man who decides to join the Marines. He was rejected by his mother and was determined to do anything to survive in a system that was designed to cast him aside.
Gabrielle Union plays Ellis’ mother in the film. The supporting cast includes Raúl Castillo and Bokeem Woodbine.
A24 released the official trailer for The Inspection, featuring Pope as Ellis French. In the trailer, Ellis battles deep-rooted prejudice, homophobia, and racism in his journey as a Marine. Other than surviving the grueling and physically demanding basic training, French also struggles to find support and acceptance in the military community.
A24 has had a successful year till now, following the release of films like Everything Everywhere All at Once, their biggest box-office success. They’ve also got horror features such as Bodies Bodies Bodies. Hopefully, The Inspection will also join the list of A24’s successful ventures.
The film is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8, 2022, followed by a closing night screening at the New York Film Festival. It will release in theaters on November 18, 2022.
