Showrunner Jeff Rake confirms that the final season of the hugely popular series Manifest will have a time jump.
NBC canceled the mysterious sci-fi drama in 2018. But a campaign led by the fans to revive the show forced the creators to follow suit. The first ten episodes of season 4 dropped on Netflix and ended in a major cliffhanger.
Manifest centers around the passengers of flight 828, called the ‘lifeboat,’ who mysteriously come back five years after their flight disappears.
Each passenger is predicted to die on a particular ‘death date.’ They must work together to comprehend their ‘callings’ to avoid imminent death.
The show boasts an ensemble cast led by Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas as siblings Michaela and Ben Stone.
In an interview with TVLine, Jeff Rake revealed that season 4, part 2, will have a small-time jump. Read his comments below:
When we pick up for the last ten episodes of the series, a “number of months” will have passed since the events of Episode 10, Rake reveals. “Jared will have been respectful, and then the question raised [is], ‘How much time does one have to wait before moving on?’ That will be a question that both Michaela and Jared ask themselves.
What happened in Season 4, Part 1?
The first ten episodes of Manifest season 4 end with an emotionally surcharged moment for Zeke (Matt Long). He realizes that he’s to save Cal (Ty Doran) to save humanity and escape the death date.
He uses his empathetic powers to absorb Cal’s leukemia and saves him. This kills Zeke and leaves his fiancé, Michaela, a heartbroken widow.
What do we know about Season 4, Part 2?
The final part of season 4 will have ten episodes as well. It will see the passengers’ falling victim to their death date or finding a way to survive.
But survival can be grim news for the rest of humanity. In part 1, we see Angelina (Holly Taylor) retrieve the Omega Sapphire. Omega Sapphire seems like the passengers’ only savior, and now it is in the wrong hands.
The next part will likely feature a massive fight between the lifeboat and Angelina. They will have to defeat Angelina to beat their death date.
Part 1 also reveals Cal as the ‘dragon’ and the only savior of humanity. Part 1 hinted at a possible communication channel between Zeke and Michaela through her callings. Perhaps, Zeke will have many answers and will be able to use his powers to help the group.
However, we also got hints of a possible romantic connection between Michaela and Jared. That could mean that Zeke might not be much involved in part 2.
Whatever happens, the finale of this epic show promises to be incredible!
