Apart from Rin and now Itsuomi, there are more people in Yuki’s world. As Yuki and Itsuomi learn more about each other, we will meet their people from their respective worlds. Being a master of multiple languages, Itsuomi’s journey to learn sign language begins as well.
3. Recap of episode 1
The episode begins with Yuki wondering if love is like falling snow, arriving silently and coloring the world in its hue. Yuki’s world is silent, with no sounds, but her friends, college, and social media are a part of it. After shopping, when Yuki is returning to her home, a foreigner asks her something.
However, Yuki cannot hear what he is saying and apologizes. A man with silver hair takes over and helps the man, and Yuki signs a thank you to him. Yuki realizes she signed to a stranger and takes her phone out to type out what she meant. However, the man stops her and asks if she can read his lips.
Yuki is surprised, but they end up conversing comfortably because the man talks slowly, so she understands. She thinks about how the man just accepted her condition and mouthed a ‘see you.’ Used to her silent world, Yuki takes too long to realize her heart is racing.
Yuki asks Rin about the guy, as they are in the same club. Rin reveals that his name is Itsuomi and asks Yuki if she has a crush on him. Rin admits to crushing on Itsuomi’s boss at his part-time as well. She asks if Yuki would like to tag along so both can get their crush’s contacts.
Yuki dresses up to go to the café-bar but she and Rin are too nervous to go in. However, Yuki is surprised at how cool Itsuomi looks once they step inside. The boss, Kyouya, greets Yuki, but she doesn’t hear him.
As Rin explains her condition, Yuki realizes that they are talking about her, but before she can feel left out, Itsuomi asks her to order. Rin tells Yuki about how Itsuomi is trilingual and knows Japanese, English, and German, and Yuki is amazed.
Yuki wonders what the world looks like from Itsuomi’s eyes. Rin successfully gets Kyouya’s number, and Yuki feels pressured to ask Itsuomi quickly. However, using a writing board to ask for Itsuomi’s number feels forceful, so she gives up.
When Rin and Yuki decide to leave, Itsuomi is done with his shift. Rin sneakily asks him to walk Yuki to the station. On their way, Itsuomi pulls Yuki away from an incoming bike and holds her hand for the rest of the way. Yuki finally asks him for his number, and Itsuomi asks her to teach him how to sign ‘okay.’
As Yuki and Itsuomi part ways, Yuki asks how big Itsuomi thinks the world is, and he replies that it’s huge. However, he wants to be a part of Yuki’s world, which makes her incredibly happy, and she signs a big okay while jumping, making Itsuomi laugh in adoration.
