Season 6 of Young Sheldon will return to HBO Max this Thursday with new weekly episodes after the month-long hiatus. Iain Armitage will lead the cast of The Big Bang Theory spinoff as the titular character as he finds his footing in college and juggles it with his hilarious family life. But you’ll need to catch up with what’s happened so far in season 6 before jumping back in.
Well, we’re here to help you with that. We’ll be recapping all eight episodes of Young Sheldon season 6 for you so that you are ready to view episode 9 tonight.
Starting at episode one, we find Georgie and Connie detained in jail for smuggling cigarettes while Mary struggles to come to terms with the way her church shuns her after the events of season 5. George reprimands his son but also confesses he understands Georgie did it for his and Mandy’s unplanned child, while Mary stands up for herself against the church.
In episode 2, the twins try to help with the Cooper family’s money problems in their own ways. Missy gets a job at the comic store, and Sheldon sulks about it while debating cryptocurrency investment. Mary tries to hold down a job but ends up partying with George’s affair partner, and Connie tries going out with Dr. Linkletter, which turns into a bust.
Episode 3 sees Georgie and Mandy teaming up despite their shaky relationship when Cooper helps her steal her possessions from her landlord after he kicks her out. The two bond, and Georgie consoles her over her messed up life while Mary takes on writing which takes a surprising turn in her married life. Meanwhile, Sheldon ends up trying to take over Dr. Sturgis’ class after he faces the annoyance only a true scientist would feel when faced with ethical ambiguity.
Episode 4 puts Sheldon in an existential crisis after Brenda’s son Billy’s mathematical question leaves Sheldon stumped. He gets over it after much debate, only after finding the answer in faith, not logic, while Missy bonds with Mandy, much to her parents’ chagrin.
Connie returns to her sketchy ways in Episode 5 and strikes a deal to transport illegal poker machines to Texas with Dale’s help. At the same time, Sheldon is once again hitting his colleagues’ nerves after his designation as the dorm RA and ends up stuck on the wall with duct tape.
Episode 6 brings good news to Cooper house after George Sr. is asked back at his job as the high school football coach after tragedy strikes Coach Wilkins’ married life. Mandy is impressed with Georgie thinking more maturely about his unborn child as he exchanged his stud car for a more family-oriented one and even dipped a hand in Connie’s slot machine business.
Mandy’s life becomes a family drama in episode 7 when she bumps into her parents, and while her father softens upon seeing his daughter, her mother stays cold. Despite George, Georgie, and her father’s insistence, Mandy remains adamant that her parents should apologize for throwing her out after she got pregnant out of wedlock.
In the same episode, Sheldon discovers the idea of a database for scientific grants and heads over to his college president’s office to share the idea. Hagemeyer is as excited as Sheldon, not about the educational prospects but how much money she’d make off the deal.
In episode 8, Sheldon snubs his professors and parents out of the deal after their haggling for money ruins his excitement about his database idea. And just like Sheldon found a way to ignore the hassle of dealing with his obnoxious parents and professors, Connie and Mandy do the same with churchgoers who tried to shut down their business, or rather businesses.
So, there you have it; you’re all caught up! Now all you have to do is tune into HBO Max tonight for the all-new episode of Young Sheldon!
