Elden Ring’s Potential Barbarians of the Badlands DLC Has Been Leaked

With the beloved publisher Bandai Namco allegedly hacked by a ransomware group called BlackCat today, it appears a lot of vital information about the company’s upcoming projects is now in the hands of wrong people.

Consequently, an image is being circulated around the internet which claims to showcase a new expansion for Elden Ring, amongst many other games.

According to the leaked image by BlackCat aka ALPHV, Elden Ring’s upcoming DLC will be called “Barbarians of the Badlands,” which would release in Q3 2023. The image resembles a screenshot of a slideshow that was likely presented during an internal meeting to discuss upcoming projects.

Besides Elden Ring, other games to feature on the image are:

Q1 FY2023

  • Armored Core
  • Dragon Ball The Breakers

Q2 FY 2023

  • Little Nightmares 3
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ Super
  • Digimon Story Cybersleuth 2

Q3 FY 2023

  • Elden Ring: Barbarians of the Badlands
  • Tales of Ascension
  • Tekken 8

Q4 FY2023

  • Code Vein 2
  • One Punch Man Fighters Association
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3

Bandai Namco has yet to confirm or deny these rumors, so we do not know how reliable the image actually is. The news of this attack was broken by vx-underground, an internet figure that has been reliable for tracking such fiascos in the past. But then again, affairs like these should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

As for the fans, they are surely going to be excited if this information turns out to be legitimate. Elden Ring getting a DLC is not a matter of if but when, so naturally, it must be sublime for enthusiasts to get a release window to look forward to.

If the leak is to be believed, the expansion will take players on a journey away from the Lands Between into a region called Badlands. This is precisely where the Tarnished was exiled when Godfrey was stripped of his Elden Lord’s title.

Elden Ring already features immersive and expansive lore, and with the arrival of this DLC, it could become even more extensive than before. But again, at the risk of repeating myself, let this cyber ransom be confirmed first, and then let your hopes go through the roof.

About Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a major title released by FromSoftware in 2022, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and the Dark Souls franchise. Set in the ‘Lands Between’,  players are on a quest to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.

Shadow of the Erdtree is a full-fledged expansion for Elden Ring added in June 2024. It is a whole new map with new Weapons, Sorceries, Ashes, and Craftables. It is a challenging DLC and as players continue to explore the map, they find surprises and easter eggs left by the developers every day.
