Good news for nocturnal Xbox gamers: a handy new night mode might be coming to your consoles soon.
According to The Verge, Microsoft has already begun testing this mode with Xbox insiders who are a part of the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring.
Night mode on Xbox will allow you to dim screens, controllers, the Xbox power button, and even disable HDR. The mode will also feature an optional blue light filter that will supposedly help in reducing eye strain.
Many of these customizations will need to be made manually by default, but night mode will also allow you to schedule them. This schedule can apply to certain times of the day or night or even sunset and sunrise (if you’re playing until way too late).
Microsoft has not shared any specific date or release period for night mode so far. However, it may arrive later this year as tests are already underway, and it has been a highly-requested feature for a while.
Furthermore, since the Xbox One and Xbox Series Consoles share the same UI, the mode should arrive for both console generations.
Xbox consoles have seen impressive updates to the overall gaming experience this year. From a content and software standpoint, Microsoft finally put its acquisition of Bethesda to good use by adding 20 of the developer’s best titles to Xbox Game Pass.
The tech giant also announced FidelityFX Super Resolution for Xbox Series consoles.
On the hardware front, Microsoft recently revealed a beautiful new controller titled Aqua Shift for the Xbox Series X|S.
Aqua Shift is the third controller to arrive for the Series consoles post-launch. The controller line-up already includes Electric Volt, Daystrike Camo, Night Ops Camo, and Sport Blue.
