The fact that GTA 5 gets a fair bit of love, even after eight years of release, is a testament to the game’s success and its superior playability.
The best part of this extended stay is that many players bring something of their own to Los Santos through mods which can bring exciting additions and even helpful fixes.
A recent example of such fan-made content puts Rockstar’s iteration of a sprawling and alive metropolis at the mercy of the King of the Monsters. A simple installation of the mod brings the legendary Godzilla to GTA 5, but here’s the kicker: the mod doesn’t just bring Godzilla to the game. It also lets you play as him.
While the mod by JulioNIB is still a work-in-progress, it’s pretty damn spectacular, as you can see in the video below. It brings a Godzilla primed with Atomic Breath to the game who, with the said breath, can destroy vehicles on the ground and blow planes out of the sky.
Unfortunately, the mod doesn’t let you destroy actual parts of Los Santos while playing as Godzilla, but then again, that would be quite the stretch.
When it comes to mods for GTA 5, JulioNIB is no amateur. As you can see on his Patreon page, plenty of mods are tailored for the game, including this Godzilla one.
There’s even a mod that brings Kong to the game if you’re looking to recreate this iconic scene from the 1933 classic. Or, you know, you could make your own Godzilla vs. Kong by using the two mods together.
Mods like these keep the GTA 5 experience fresh and exciting which is just what fans need as official info on GTA 6 remains scant. There are plenty of rumors flying around, but there is still no hint of what the story will concern or how Rockstar will update gameplay from GTA 5.
Let’s hope that the developers reveal something noteworthy about the new title this year.
