Alongside the announcement of the remaster of the original Mass Effect Trilogy, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Electronic Arts and BioWare have confirmed that a new Mass Effect is also in development.
This is big news for all the Mass Effect fans out there, and the fact that it dropped on the N7 day is the cherry on top as for many years, many have been waiting for a proper remaster for the original games as well as a sequel that can actually stand up to the trilogy, unlike the $40 Million disasters that were Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Those godlike, nightmarish, and meme-worthy facial animations still exist in my mind like a distant memory that I’m trying my hardest to forget.
“A veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.”
Casey Hudson, General Manager, BioWare
“For me personally, Mass Effect represents years of work and countless special memories, so every year I feel incredibly fortunate to celebrate N7 Day with players around the world. Thank you so much for supporting us over the years. I can’t wait to continue our adventure together—revisiting our favorite memories in the Mass Effect universe, and creating brand new ones!”
Here’s a fun fact. There’s a very high chance that BioWare has been working on this new Mass Effect for over a year now, seeing as how in a report by Kotaku last year, it was stated that, along with working on Dragon Age 4, BioWare has also started working on a new Mass Effect game.
Could this game and the one confirmed last year be the same after all? Well, if they are, then a trailer or a teaser for this Mass Effect may surface on the internet sooner than we think.
Regardless, it is undoubtedly a great time to be a fan of the Mass Effect series, and you can always count on the upcoming Legendary Edition to experience the magic of the original trilogy once more!
